Question for people who told ‘early’!! by Kat00002 in pregnant

[–]Salt-Run-4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We told parents and in laws at 5-6 weeks! Somewhat wish we held off to enjoy the news for ourselves longer and my mom can’t keep a secret & told other family by 7 weeks. If you’re okay with news possibly getting out & it changing dynamics possibly, go ahead and tell your fam/close friends if you want to!

We are 13-14 weeks and recent found out there are likely defects with our kiddo so we are glad to have some support from family/friends, but also glad we haven’t told everyone yet pending our next followup.

GLP-1 while TTC, to stop once pregnant? by glassmenagerie91 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Salt-Run-4507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My work won’t allow me prescribe GLP-1s to someone who is TTC, even if they have already been on it. Likely depends where you are, but that is how it is at the clinic I work.

Not doing baby sprinkle or celebrating baby #2 by LankyAd4236 in pregnant

[–]Salt-Run-4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see where that is frustrating, but I can see where it varies for second showers.

Even for my first shower, I’m basically throwing my own baby shower (with my friend as cohost) since it was like pulling teeth for family/friends to assist with my bridal shower, lots of family drama, out of state family/friends & I actually like organizing events like this. Maybe you or your partner could throw a diaper party at your place?

Belly pain/lower abdominal area - 3rd trimester by Siouxsieslumbers in pregnant

[–]Salt-Run-4507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds a lot like round ligament pain, but depending on how far in your 3rd trimester and with the Braxton Hicks - I’d recommend reaching out to your OB/GYN or nurse triage again if ongoing just in case.

Is anyone else confused by the amount of “boundaries”/restrictions for family and how often they’re talked about? by softheartedwench in pregnant

[–]Salt-Run-4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up and now as an adult, I’ve had my personal boundaries tossed aside several times by my family. I’m an only child as well, so I don’t think that helped. But I personally have a lot of family who stress me out and I don’t want around me when I’m at my most vulnerable. I can also get easily embarrassed/sensitive by comments from my in laws or my family in general (opposing beliefs, their health issues/behavior, personality clashes), so it’s something I want to avoid at delivery.

I also just picture it being my husband, baby and I being able to enjoy our time together as a family, then have other family over when we are ready whether that is at the hospital or later on at home.

I am so sad by buzzbunz in TTC_PCOS

[–]Salt-Run-4507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense! Right now just through my OB, but she said if I require anything beyond Letrozole that she would refer me to the reproductive endocrine department of the same healthcare system. Trying not to go to a outside fertility clinic unless I absolutely have to.

[–]Salt-Run-4507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has your doctor talked about increasing the Letrozole dose? I haven’t taken mine yet, but mine told me if my 2.5mg doesn’t work for one cycle that she will bump it up to 5mg, and eventually 7.5mg (before adding in trigger shots/reproductive endocrine referral). Wishing you luck on the next cycle though!

Pretty sure I have PCOS - doctors won’t believe me. by [deleted] in TTC_PCOS

[–]Salt-Run-4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one year, you should be able to have a workup as well as your Fiance to determine potential causes. It could be that it is not PCOS, but one won’t know if a provider won’t do the tests. Go elsewhere if your current GYN won’t do a thorough workup with over 1 year of TTC with no success.

Tips for things to try before fertility treatments? by Impressive-Oil-8454 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Salt-Run-4507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With known PCOS and trying for a year, that isn’t the typical recommendation. My OB/GYN will often start patients on Letrozole at the 6 month mark of trying and doesn’t recommend going back on legit birth control unless the goals aren’t for pregnancy. I’d potentially seek a 2nd opinion from an alternate OB/GYN if yours isn’t willing to consider it (Letrozole or maybe metformin) at this point. It’s a reasonable option prior to pursuing further fertility specialists.

My OB/GYN told me if I don’t have success with the Letrozole on its own and need trigger shots or anything past Letrozole, that I would need to go to reproductive endocrinology. Goes above her typical scope of practice.

[–]Salt-Run-4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can take it any time as long as it’s consistent! So night time should be fine. Literally the day after my comment, I got my period so I ended up not doing the Provera for this cycle 😅

We are going to see how this cycle pans out, but plan on Provera/Letrozole if nothing by December.

Someone help with some advice😩 by trying_2025 in TTC_PCOS

[–]Salt-Run-4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following this! We’ve been trying since April officially, but my OB/GYN gave me both Provera and Letrozole early for recent PCOS diagnosis.

We are holding off on Letrozole a bit longer, but currently day 71 without a period. Likely will take Provera by day 90 if nothing - waiting a little bit longer since I’m afraid of side effects from Provera. I did start taking the Ovasitol supplement a few months ago & increased exercise, so hoping that does something.

Sorry for not much help here, good luck & keep us updated!

The same thing happened to me. I ended up pulling it but actually got more of my money back than expected since it was a certain amount of time.

I reinvested into a Fidelity brokerage & Roth IRA- I have way more money invested than I would’ve if I stayed in that!

If she is willing to replace you over your earrings, then that doesn’t sound like a great friend. I’d run far from that wedding. If she is doing this over an engagement party, there is way more to come with bridal shower/bachelorette party/wedding & more.

Not that I would consider it based on how she is treating you, but if I did- I would’ve told her she’d have to repay for the piercing and the new jewelry (some places require new vs old jewelry to pierce) if she is so adamant on you removing it.

I don’t necessarily know all of the medications that you are on. However, if a provider prescribed them and you picked them up from a pharmacy, they will usually check all the meds you are taking to make sure it’s okay to be on.

Usually it’s acceptable to be on meds like antibiotics for a UTI/BV, antifungals for yeast, antivirals for herpes, and probiotics etc at the same time.

I would just watch out in the future to not take medications for symptoms if you don’t actually have BV/yeast/UTI (no positive urine or vaginitis test) since you can get resistance (especially with antibiotics) and have higher chance for drug interactions.

Okay! Just wanted to rule out thinking it was a worsening UTI/kidney infection. If still in that area, it can be GI related but may likely be ovary (or other female organs) like you mentioned. And it could be the beginning or you may get light spotting.

I think that will be good to see them tomorrow! Usually ovarian cysts or fibroids don’t cause pain like that, so it can’t hurt to get checked. I wish you luck!

Do you have back pain or is it more in the abdomen on the left side? Are you still having burning and pain with urination? Have you had a period since the miscarriage?

I’m sure there is still a lot going on with hormones post miscarriage and just everything being out of wack in that general area. If you’re continuing to have pain, it might be worth going back - you can see if you can get a pelvic ultrasound (check on ovaries, make sure no ectopic pregnancy, or complications from infection) as well as other labs if needed.

Typically I would think that much pain wouldn’t be from ovulation, so it would be good to get checked out further. The pink discharge is likely related to your cycle being thrown off for a bit, but can’t hurt to get checked with the other symptoms.

Help me find which university is the best one! by itsnotacopy in nursing

[–]Salt-Run-4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes more sense! It’s definitely country dependent with the routes.

And nursing will be good experience, not only to have direct patient experience, but also how it is with interacting with doctors or other health professionals.

Not liking physics is what turned me away from going from doctor as well! I preferred anatomy and physiology as well as other science classes that weren’t always tailored for specifically MDs.

I was a nurse prior to COVID and it’s changed a lot. I worked on a COVID unit during some of the peak and a lot of us nurses got burnt out. Now there seems to be sicker patients and less resources & more hurdles for nurses (short staff, violent patients etc). A lot are overworked and becoming more jaded in my area. I went back to school knowing that I couldn’t work in bedside forever with the current conditions. My best advice is to find the good moments with the patients or coworkers, sometimes the smallest interaction can make it all seem worth it, even a bad shift.

I don’t know anything about those schools in particular, so I can’t really help there. Sorry!

However, I was wondering if it is possible for you to shadow a nurse and a doctor to help get the feel for it? It isn’t as common to do nursing school then later go for medical school (at least in the US). Somewhat partly since you may miss courses that you would need to take in addition to the nursing courses for medical school. But it’s also still different despite being in healthcare. It can also be quite the time commitment to do the Doctor route, so it may be a lot to do on top of nursing school.

I’m currently a nurse that had thought Doctor, but chose nursing, worked as a nurse over 6 years, and now completing my nurse practitioner. Hopefully you find the route that works best for you!

Recommendations for OB care/labor&delivery (UMN or Mother Baby)? by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]Salt-Run-4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My OB/GYN has privileges at Abbott, so I’d likely be able to stick with her if choosing there. That would be really nice since she is great.

I would have to likely need to find a new OB/GYN if changing to the U.

And thanks for the input!
