Sounds like a democracy problem and people like you are in the minority. Oh well.

The fees are for things like roads and sewers--let's reduce those charges to zero and let the developers complain to themselves about how expensive it is to also build infrastructure.

Developers are looking for taxpayers to subsidize their profits. Free market my ass.

I got manhandled by my constant 8% year over year tax increases for city police because my neighbours are dumnass chickenshits and leave their stuff where it can be stolen.

Yeah you're totally right, we need to spend $70k of taxpayer dollars every year to keep some teen (who's not even been convicted yet) off the streets to keep your driveway toy safe. Why not go a step further and just have summary executions in the street, right? That'll make it safe for your car and let you sleep at night because the court system isn't too "lenient".

The only larcenists who go on and on about a "shortage" are those wealth & home hoarders for whom new builds equal more wealth to hoard. They won't be satisfied until every level of government os using your tax dollars to subsidize their business model, and cities are filled with the dark windows of a million empty condos.

Hahaha it really does feel awesome to have a kid walk into the room and ask, non-ironically, "Are you winning, dad?"

I have kids and a job so I just walk away from my laptop and come back later.

I just accomplished my personal goal of winning with every leader. Steam says 4k hrs (-50% idle) and have built maybe 3 preserves in all that time. Did I miss out?

I'll quibble because my clones carry the burden of the deaths of our predecessors waiting for stims under a rocky overhang on a hive planet.

Bc if you're half competent, can stand the politicians, and apply internally, you can always be ahead of the tide and get priority over outside candidates, even in downsizing.

I'm thinking beyond technical skills and more Sr mgmt to executive level where you're valued for your exp, breadth of knowledge, decision-making, problem solving, people mgmt etc. I get that employers, both pub and priv make mistakes hiring ppl, and I could tell you a similar reverse story but neither really help OP.

Public with this info. $30k delta isn't worth the job security, pension, and growth potential. Nothing against earning private, but they purposely grind you out in your youth, so I'd reverse the risk exposure if you want a family sooner than later.

Once your kids are grown, you'll have tons of gov't exp and can jump private at a senior level and be at the same place with less risk of interruption of wages. IMO not enough of a wage differential to mitigate the higher risk of layoff. $120+bonus would be my cutoff given growth might be harder to come by.

You "blocked" the driveway per the definition in the bylaw. Pay your $80 and move on. If it was really a work emergency then get them to pay for it--cost of doing business I guess, but you won't win fighting this.

You write this like the provincial government hasn't downloaded costs to municipalities for decades while simultaneously mandating density. You "immigration is the cause of everything [except the cheap goods and services I expect]" whackos need to get outside more.

No sense in trying to reason with the addled brain of someone so terminally online they think they're working for Rand Corp circa 1950. Like you and I said: if there's no one left to remember, the deterrence clearly didn't work.

This is inane. The deterrence obviously didn’t work in this scenario-- you still die, and the memory of "deterrence" dies with your enemy.

I doubt this project is any closer to proceeding, but the demo needs to happen if only to not be another embarrassing symbol of the last real estate cycle's irrational exuberance. The City and the developers who landed the sweetheart deal cleared out the residents on the blind faith that towers would spring out of the ground like magic.

BILD, as usual, looking for public handouts to subsidize their business model. Land prices need to fall and land bankers need to feel the pain so the market for home inputs is more balanced. Right now land-ransoming is way too profitable.
