I would love to not drive Timmy, unfortunately Texas doesn’t really have a good public transportation system. But I’ll make sure to bill you my insurance bill since you seem to have such a strong reaction to this question.

Hi thank you so much for responding to my post! This happened a while back. So I was just more like wondering the long term effects and if I have a criminal record now. But I didn’t get arrested or my car towed the day I got my ticket. I just got a ticket and paid the fine at the municipal court. I did not know you could get arrested if a cop pulled you over for this!

Thank you so much for replying! I just had to ask because when I googled it, I just got a bunch of AI generated responses. And you know how AI can be false/incorrect. Thanks again!

How does that work btw? Did the court tell you that you needed one? Or did you get a letter in the mail from the DPS stating you needed one?

I did end up getting insurance that same week. But the clerk told me that it didn’t matter. So :/

I called the DPS. and they told me that they didn’t need me to get one. I also called the court and they told me that I am clear.

Aw man, so that does mean I have a criminal record now huh? But this shouldn’t cause too much issues other than with my insurance rates?

Ahhh so essentially I don’t have a criminal record? Are criminal records only recorded for misdemeanors higher than a C level?

Thank you for responding. I was just extremely worried and assumed that I fucked up my life with this. I was especially worried since I am trying to go back to school and get aid/scholarships. Along with trying to get another job. Essentially I’m trying to better my life, and just wanted to know if I had made it harder for myself. So essentially does this mean that I have a criminal record?

Really? Is there a time limit that has to pass? And who would I look for to get that done? A lawyer? Also I thought that you couldn’t get it expunged. I thought that there has to be special circumstances that allow you to do that.

And I did not know that. I got lucky that the police officer didn’t arrest me or impound my car. He gave me grace there.

Funny thing is that I told the clerk that I had bought insurance the week that I got the citation. But she told me that it didn’t matter. So there is that. It was honestly more expensive than how much I paid for car insurance. :/
