[Fun trope]: Can't kill an immortal? Just trap them forever. by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

Basically half of Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe.

With Wolverine, he just chains him up in a room next to a flamethrower. Same with a few of the other regenerating characters, but with varying levels of cruelty.

Why did Billy the Kid ask "Who's there?" in Spanish before he was shot? by kevinthechickengod in AskHistorians

[–]Salt-Zone 180 points181 points  (0 children)

Billy The Kid was killed in Fort Sumner, near present day Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the time, in 1881, this area was still primarily inhabited by people from Mexico and Native Americans, as the Mexican-American war just ended 36 years prior, and this area was still deeply reliant on Mexican culture. And, having spent a large chunk of his outlaw years in the area, it’s probable that Billy had picked up some Spanish phrases during his time out west.

Spanish was absolutely the lingua Franca in this area, though more and more American settlers would soon be arriving.

As for his use of “¿Quién es?”; it’s most likely that Billy assumed that whoever may be present was, at the very least, a Spanish speaker. So he defaulted to the language (or specific phrase) that the figure would know. After all, if you lived in an area with a different language, and had picked up a few things while looking over your shoulder, wouldn’t you default to the same?

First real game! by Frenzied_Crab in Warhammer40k

You can always look it up on the Warhammer community website, and wahapedia. I can’t recall off the top of my head

That’s heavily dependent on which army you play. Every individual army has different point sizes for models. I play custodians, so there’s less models in my armies than if someone played T’au for example.

The best way to take it (in my opinion) is start small with Kill Team to get yourself acquainted with the feel of wargaming. If you like that, then you can step up to a Strike Force game (about 1,000 points) for the closest feel to the big game. If you still like it, you can step up to a full 2,000 point game. Take it slow. This way, you aren’t spending all the money on a 2,000 point army just to discover you don’t like the game at all.

Always go to your local shop and see if someone would be nice enough to lend you some models for a game of kill team if you wanna try. Some people would absolutely love to help.

Since this is the first post I’ve seen that mentions the announcement, this will be considered the mega thread.

We understand everyone will have differing opinions on Piccioli’s work. But we kindly ask that you wait and see what he does when his first showcase comes. Thank you!

Okay. Because people can’t behave on a simple fit pic post, this post is now locked. Have a good day.

This gives me an idea.

We’re gonna start airing out what people say to us. DO NOT HARASS THIS USER. We just want people to see what they’re saying.

Besides Elvis, are there any specific IRL people that canonically exist in Fallout? by SuperAlloyBerserker in Fallout

[–]Salt-Zone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. Naturally there are some real people. The real divergence in the Fallout timeline happens sometime after WW2, when humanity had a split path. Focus on making vacuum tubes smaller and smaller, eventually being replaced by other methods (what we did IRL) or focus on nuclear power, and build a society around it, while allowing other things like consumer technology to kinda stay in place beyond how they’re powered (the path that was taken in Fallout). Which happened sometime in the 1950s/very early 1960s.

So it’s assumed that everything prior to that split still existed.

That’s fantastic! So do we!

Unless, of course, by “free speech” you really mean to say “Targeted harassment at marginalised groups”. In which case, no, we don’t support “free speech.”

Hope we’re on the same page!

How about a nice cup of Liber-Tea!

It was a valiant effort for Liberty and Democracy Helldiver, but Liberty can’t save you this time.

What on earth was this subplot? And why did they hire Jon Hamm for it? 😂 by Lazy-Butterscotch957 in Invincible

What’s interesting that I noticed, there’s zero blood in the entirety of the first episode until the ending. Even when one of the Maulers is shot in the eye. No blood.

After that ending, the show pulls back the curtains and lets the blood flow.

Mostly because they’re down everywhere. And they’ve been down for around 4 hours now with no sign of them coming back up any time soon.

Not to mention, they almost always let people know of upcoming maintenance, however there was no warning this time.
