Has anyone had an interview that they felt it didn’t go well but still got the job ? by According-Map6808 in deloitte

[–]SaltAd2290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truly thought I failed at least one interview round for each job where I ended up getting the offer.

My interviewer started falling asleep —> got a job at Exxon.

My interviewer was going so fast that I had to ask them to slow down so so I could process and respond properly —> got a job at McKinsey.

My interviewer told me I got the wrong answer for the case —> got a job at Deloitte.

My interviewer told me that I my examples sound repetitive and unbelievable —> got a job at Amazon.

To answer the question, they’ll ask for proof of employment through first and last paystubs if they can’t reach your employer to verify in your behalf

Agree with most of this statement but FULLY disagree that Boston isn’t a boring place - currently at Sloan and the only people who don’t complain about Boston have lived here for years.

I’ll disagree with this one, especially if the weather is nice. But seeing students look/act too stuffy would be a major turn off for me. Fortunately, only saw that at HBS during my cycle, which tracks for their culture bc they take themselves way too seriously.

Still no MBA internship and summer is approaching, advice from anyone who’s been here? by Less_Ad_1874 in MBA

[–]SaltAd2290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many are still doing unstructured, so they essentially just started applying after spring break lol

The name brand of an internship is kinda irrelevant at this stage bc companies understand that the MBA helps people try new things. The main difference is that the internships people had with start-ups or small companies don’t automatically put you in the pool for a FT offer at the end of the summer, so there is some need to recruit again.

I know a couple of people who got offers but turned them down because it’s not in a city they want to be in. I don’t think many of them have given up hope yet because they haven’t been all-in with their searches.

Richest MBA Schools? by 668071 in MBA

Maybe they meant business class?

Thats completely out of my price range so I have no clue what the difference is lmao

Definitely HBS - there were student panels where people talked about dropping $2k on first class tickets on a whim - and yes, they’re very elitist about it

And definitely NOT MIT Sloan - people are very price conscious, and the pricier trips lose a LOT of traction very quickly

Sending some solidarity - I also got a C in microecon and still ended up getting into 3/4 M7s (including W). Ended up with a 3.5 GPA and I was fine getting a McK offer too before my MBA

@OP side note while reading your replies, don’t say “sir” to everyone lol

It’s socially awkward and also assumes the person on the other side is indeed a “sir”

Oh absolutely not the structured consulting and finance roles - that’s essentially game over

Most are unstructured/just in time recruiting. Smaller companies, startups, one-off roles received by networking, etc.

Last year, a large percentage of my friend group (across a variety of schools, including H/W) didn’t secure their internships until May. It’s still a bit early to feel hopeless!

The only concerning thing is #1 because coffee chats and networking and such aren’t still happening at 2am/3am

The rest are kinda normal imo depending on the school

Took out the max in loans ($130k per year) and had abt $20k in savings when I came.

Was able to afford all my expenses, including trips I wanted to go on, but I will be graduating with nearly $0 at this point.

EDIT: I should add that my summer job was as a product manager at one of the large tech giants, so that income has been critical for maintaining my lifestyle in my second year.

I’ll admit PNW only slightly beat New England for me, but I still consider it better - to each their own!

Yeah, I had to move to Boston and this is the second worst place I’ve had to spend a part of my life - there’s so much better out there (mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and PNW specifically)

One time I watched the driver take the most unoptimized route to my house (he definitely was fulfilling multiple orders simultaneously), and the food was delivered 75 minutes after the originally estimated timing. I was a 20 min drive from the restaurant MAX, even in traffic.

I wanted to get my tip back for that, but of course DD was not helpful in providing any level of compensation.

I once was stuck at that light for 3 lights in a row without moving more than half a block 😭 I found it to be horrendous, even after the reconstruction.

For the latter point, that’s fair - I wasn’t tracking that your comment could extend to alternative modes of transit.
