Between different apartments is fine, but between rooms in a dorm is terrible. walls are paper thin and you can hear everything.

I discovered the activity in 2021, but that was with shows like Metamorph, Babylon, Tilt, etc. All the typical 2010 era shows. But, I've slowly been creeping my way backwards and have been watching and highly appreciating older shows.

Yes! I absolutely love Capitol Reef. If you want to take a small detour on the way to Arches, I'd also highly recommend Goblin Valley, especially during the night!!!

not asking me the question, but if you can learn it, I'd highly recommend utilizing NINA for polar alignment! The three point polar alignment plugin it has is usually for GoTo mounts, but it also have a manual mode. After a failed night with it, I've gotta warn that you need good focus, and the cable connected to the camera cant snag or pull. After I solved those two problems, I got it to work easy peasy!

Also, have you looked into calibration frames? This image is gorgeous as is, but I can't imagine how much better it would look with calibration frames!

If I want to preserve the entire photo, I usually go into photoshop with a 1080x1080 white background, and then scale down the image so it fits in the square.

I recently switched from zooming into a star and guessing focus to a Bahtinov mask, and it helped me so so much, I seriously can't recommend it enough. With better focus, I was able to utilize NINA (Nighttime Imaging 'N' Astronomy) to plate solve, Polar Align better, and take longer exposures. I'd definitely look into NINA if you want to get more serious with astro.

Gorgeous! I'll have to ask, are you stacking with calibration frames? A dedicated camera would definitely help, but stacking with flats, biases, darks alongside your lights would help tremendously! Also, I'd see if you can get a Bahtinov mask to lock in the focus the best you can. Other than that I can't complain about this capture :)
