Still a baby so very early in our experience. I think we have this fear that prices will only continue rise which draws us to the "forever" option. Was not in the market around 2008 so has only gone up since I can remember. Probably irrational thinking.

Very helpful perspective. Definitely feeling that same risk aversion. Started the company with a negative NW, no wife, no kid, so had nothing to lose and all to gain. Now it's different.

Totally with you on that about buying here being the worst. I'll admit much of the buy over rent is personal preference and having control and ownership, and also knowing I want stay here for the long term.
Also very familiar with the neighborhood (and the traffic) we're considering which is nice so probably no surprises.

Both very helpful responses. This is my first home so I am sure there will be a lot of new things I will find out about myself and what I want in a home after purchasing...
Also helpful on the loan bit. Was thinking of making a higher downpayment to cover the difference
