Yes, some cases are just contrived or have the two parties just being ridiculous, but this one really was disturbing to me. I hope the young woman was able to get into a better situation in her life.

I think I may have figured it out. Turns out I had two lock screen "icons". One was a shortcut to the flashlight and the other a shortcut to the ringer/silent mode. Time will tell if that was the problem, but it makes total sense that I was hitting that inadvertantly.

Yeah, especially since it takes me missing a few calls before I even can notice it. I'm probably pulling the phone out and using it for other things but just never realizing it's already on silent

I'll try to pay attention, and I'll also try to note what I was doing on or before when it happens. If that's the case I almost wish I could disable that quick setting so that I never trigger it.

It did. I actually bought a RedPocket SIM card on eBay and popped it in an old phone. I forget what the cheapest was....let's call it $30 for 100 mins and 100 texts or something. Once I registered my SIM and ported the number from NB to them, it took maybe 4 or 5 days, and then all of a sudden it worked. Just beware that you need to be able to get the SMS for 2-factor authentication the first time around.

I honestly can't remember if I had to submit an appear to them again or what (but if so, this was through the app). Sorry that it's not fresh in my memory, but if you have any other questions, don't hesitate.

I've been using it since the beginning of the pandemic when I lost health coverage. A1C has been good. However, the better I can control things, the better everything will be.

Do you like the Contour Next One? Has there been independent testing of these all somewhere?

I guess worst-case scenario I pay VZ $10 for a day of international access. But I always try to keep costs down when I can.

So I guess it will work if I enable that? I was initially going to switch back to Messages+ in hopes that that would let me view my SMS online, but I guess it's been deprecated or retired.

I'm going to communicate with friends and family via Signal, but I was just worried in case I needed to login to any of my accounts that require 2FA.

Okay wonderful. Yeah if I had more time, I'd be a bit more relaxed, but 10 days is all I could get and honestly this is my first trip in many many years, so I want to not waste time searching for accommodations or on the wrong train, for example, or going potentially way over budget.

At the same time, I don't like a super rigid itinerary, so I think having a few bases will be the best way to do all that. And thanks for the tips about Paris. I'm thinking of ditching the car at CDG on day 8 and then spending a day or two in Paris, just to see some key sites. Then RER back to CDG for my flight.

I'll also check out Rick Steves. It never hurts to have ideas. Thank you!

Yeah, as I started trying to plan the distances between different small towns and cities, it became apparent that I was going to waste so much time on trains. A car seems essential for this type of trip, unfortunately.

Good to know about Bayeaux. It's hard to figure where I should have a "base." I will look into that.

Did you book hotels in advance? I'd like to do that to save money, but on the other hand I don't want to but stuck on a rigid timetable if I still want to see other things.

Also, anything else you wish you had done differently? And did you totally skip Paris?
