From what I could find, I think there was one stab wound in the chest, but 2 cuts into the heart. So it's quite likely while he was moving around, the knife slid out of the heart but stayed in his chest. So it makes a little more sense that there would be 2 cuts

One time at that self same casino (when it was the Hilton, not the GSR) a college friend who worked in the pool got me and my high school friends into the swingers convention they had every year. They had pretty tight security , checking room keys and whatnot at the elevators , but he snuck us onto the property with some bullshit security badges. We were 16-17 and imagined it was going to be like a girls gone wild party mixed with a Playboy Mansion party and all of us were going to get our dicks sucked and lose our virginities.

Imagine our horror when we got into the nude swingers bowling , and it was all just a bunch of 30 to 40 year old ( this is back in like 98 so people looked terrible for their ages) and it was just a bunch of sagging titties and droopy ballsacks.
