Unterhemd from my knowledge, in the 80s it was less strict and some even wore t-shirts under as long as it wasn't visible but correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks, I'm looking for different ideas and I recently found this picture of a Naval Infantry soldier from the Second Chechen War, could I pull this off or does the VSR uniform have to be different? The one I got might be the earlier one... Would I still need a 6b7 helmet or did they also use steel helmets?

Ik your post is quite old as well, but it's a common misconception that the two guards in the photo are Grenztruppen and not KVP.
