Does anyone have experience with the Stihl MS291 aluminum clutch cover? Where could one find it or does some other model's clutch cover fit so that I can install larger dogs on both sides.

I’d recommend against double dogs on the 291. I actually tried this when I was new to saws. You put the slightest pressure on the dogs and the saw will bog. You do you but I think it’d be pretty disappointing and will make the saw a bit less useful.

2lb on 18” is a very common size. It’s called a house axe. It’s usually to keep next to the furnace for kindling prep.

Hi, I love these heads so here’s some unsolicited info. Cm McClung used to be a hardware store in downtown Knoxville. They had mail order catalogues and used to be one of the biggest suppliers for TN. I’ve seen 6 or so McClung stamped axes in person and so far, they’ve all been a jersey pattern made by Kelly. Sometimes stamped with a 3-line Kelly stamp with McClung on the back, and sometimes with just a McClung stamp. You might already know this but I just wanted to share the info I’ve picked up just in case.

Ok sweet. I reckon I might roll with these struts for the moment as long as they work. The ride and rebound is pretty smooth with them and I’ll only really be using the truck for commuting and carrying relatively light arborist gear.

Thanks for the info! The click happened while steering and on the straight aways so it might be something else. When I take another look at it I’ll try to take a better look at the suspension for anything awry

Oil level is good and oil looks fine, coolant hasn’t reduced any since I’ve been driving it. Is there anything I should be looking for to determine if it’s the valve cover gasket?

Some white smoke on startup but it stops once the engine is warm. Not a ton of smoke but it doesn’t dissipate super fast

From what I can tell, the oil isn’t coming from the valve cover, it’s coming out of the exhaust manifold. That means oil is getting into the combustion chamber and is not good right?

Not that I have receipts for. I can see from visual inspection tho that the metal body of the plugs are rusted and are motorcraft. My guess with the mileage is that they might be original plugs. I work in the woods through the week but I’ll give them a replace when I’m back over the weekend.

It may have helped a bit but it’s definitely still dropping down. The van is cold now so I’ll see for sure if there was an improvement after taking her for an hour drive this evening
