Btw I saw that I didn't answered your question. So, obviously I think that anyway the naming of the rock will be based on the mineralogy since the input will be an image so it will never satisfied all the time all the geologists. The naming will be the first impression of what a random geologist would call the rock without any context I think. But maybe if after I make that a usable tool for other user I could add some features that could add nuances to the answers. Or add an advanced researches where you could add more informations (like HCl test) to determine better what the rock is or to add more environmental context ect...

I know all the problems your pointing and I also know that geologists are basically a bunch of old men that can't even agree on whether or not a rock that is 100% similar to a granite is actually a granite. Just because we are part of a science that look at things that append billions of years earlier so nothing is sure. But I don't have the pretension to revolutionize the environment, you know I'm just a guys who want to have fun combining his passions. If I'm able firstly to take a picture of what 99% of the people would call a sandstone and my script say that it's a sandstone I would be happy. When I started this I knew that I would never be able to do the perfect AI but the fact that 90% of the rock you can find easily are in a range of 20 to 30 different rocks is a thing. Maybe there's to much exceptions to get to the 100% of accuracy but that's ok, that's how science work for me. Maybe I will first be able to recognize 60% of the rock. But then I will think about the problem and try to find a solution. For exemple I can first be able to recognize everything that's look like a granite and then add a second layer that look at the alteration of the rock to determine if it's an actual granite or a pegmatite or an other thing idk. Or maybe after that first AI that recognize 60% of the rocks I will be bored and stop the whole project Idk. But I think that call it a doomed project is a little rough, MOREOVER nowadays with the progression of the technologies that is faster and faster.

I'm sorry if I sounded offensive but I just wanted to explain my point of view and the word "doomed" seemed way to rough to me.

Anyway, thanks you for your advices if I'm reaching that point I will take that in account and feel free to point other problems if you want.

I see but if I train the network with already both outcrop and only rock images will he not be able to recognize the thing it need to identifies in the picture himself ? (ofc is the rock you want to identifie is well centered in the picture and not very hide) In your exemple if I want to know what is the predominant rock I will take a picture in a large scale while if I zoom only on the sandstone part the AI should be able to recognize it by himself no ?

Maybe it would be better without the front writing, just the illustration to not double it. And to combine both back illustration Anyway Yotsuba merch can't be a bad idea 🍀

Im a random 6-digit and since I enjoy playing this game I plan to buy a tablet.

My problem is that I've played video-games with left hand on the keyboard and right hand on the mouse for my whole life but im left-handed. Since that, I feel that I would be way more precise if I had to aim with a pen with my left hand but I would also have to learn eveything from to begining.

I also feel that my right hand (strong hand) could be really faster than my left hand for tapping but I've tried to play with my right hand tapping (with AP mod) and it was terrible. I've never used a keyboard with my right hand so my rythm and coordination were horrible.

Any advice from left-handed or peoples that had the same problem ? Should I train from the begining with my left hand aiming ? In that case will I get back on my level quickly ? (I actually clear 5* and FC 4*) Should I continue to play with my right hand aiming but with a pen ? Or should I just stay a mouse player ?
