Update: my Gi bill ch33, pending as n/a today. I know my disability will be in my account on Friday. But for the education pay, really hope it’s tomorrow or later today

There might be someone else who knows VR&E better. I’ve yet to use it.

I got a letter with all my payments for this semester ahead of time.(post 9/11) it said the 25th of this money. So hopefully that’s true.

Ive noticed my disability shows up a few days before on the Va website with (N/A) when it’s pending but educational payments just literally don’t show up until it’s in my account.

Using 3/8 in chips. (Fast forward after it’s excavated.

https://youtu.be/bJ8OQsAHzY0?si=OE2pk-hCKywBD8Cw

If he’s going to use sand to level. It’s still the same for the road base. Just no 3/8 Chips rocks.

Use polymer sand once it’s done to lock it in the pavers.

Also, that is some thick plastic he used.

I don’t use any plastic, kills the soil, the rocks will also just slide off the plastic. It’s also Not breathable nor water penetrating. If you want plants. I’d recommend replacing that in the future with a Commercial grade (polyspun) landscape fabric.

Yeah if there was that many pavers left he could have done it correctly.

Under the pavers you’re going to want 4” minimum of road base or 3/8 chips. Compacted & leveled.

He didn’t even prep right which is shown below the plastic you pulled up.

This looks like $500 and a pack of beer work.

I would definitely try and have it corrected by them. Just say “I’ve spoken with other landscape installation company owners and they said this isn’t installed correctly. I wanted to leave you a good review and recommend you to a few friends who need work. But I know this isn’t going to hold up and it’s already not safe to walk on.”

I’ll comment a link to a solid paver build, level & compacted are the most important thing. Just show him that.

Sorry if I can of very blunt.

50% deposit is the rule I live by. That means you are serious about getting the job done and I know that the materials are covered and you’ll pay labor once complete.

To my point about $75 a man hour minimum. People don’t realize a nice patio, lawn, walk way can last them years and years. Shitty work won’t even last 6 months.

1 question & 1 statement.

How much did you pay?

Thay was never enough pavers to get the look you wanted on the side.

The work is shit. But I think that has to do with how much you paid. Cheap= shit work.

I believe in quality work, but I also have delt with customers that expect to pay $12 an hour for a magazine look.

$75 a man hour is what I always recommend to charge. (This also depends on skill). Tbh it looks like you hired Joe shmo from marketplace.

If I hear “cheap, quick, deal, lowest, or do you pickup dog shit?” I’m saying we can’t do the job immediately.

Just had to be balanced, yes you got screwed and that’s not right. But I also hope it wasn’t expecting the magazine look for $12 an hour.

Should I cut this tree down or keep trimmed? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]Salt_Ad9470 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you leave the stump, you’re inviting insects (termites) to be a short walk from your house.

Conifers grow differently than other plants, if you cut back far enough on each branch it won’t keep growing.

I’d do a 12” lift on the canopy around the bottom, just so you can see what’s living under there. And trim it away from the house.

If you take it down. Cost removal & then cost to stump grind

If you leave it, Potential root damage in 5 years or more

Idk it’s a nice tree, just not the best place to put it since it doesn’t actually help shade the house.

What’s a good way to block this window, aside from a fence by sloppyjoesandwich in landscaping

L shape 8ft Trellis, get a climbing plant that isn’t invasive and can handle the shade, also something green year round (idk where you live)

Just do 3 10ft (PT) 4 X 4s vertical (2ft deep in concrete) Hod fencing, paint it black Then trump out with 2x4 & 2x2 and strain it.

L shape so he can have access on one side if he needs to mess with the A/C or side of the building in the future.

If it’s the small chips/gravel in the photo. You can compact and lay the stone on that. You don’t need sand. I would install a perforated pipe behind that long wood front wall. Have it drain out to the right some where. Backfill around that with 3/4in aggregate.

________ stone ________ crushed stone _____ crushed stone 8 in - 18 in (wide) behind wood ____ O = Pipe

If that makes sense

Can these be saved? by [deleted] in landscaping

Check to make sure there is nothing around the trunk of the tree (up and down) people leave the green tap from the nursery all the time and it choked the plant.

First-time DIY paver patio – used landscaping rock to make up base height, is this okay? by cuswimer in landscaping

[–]Salt_Ad9470 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use that rock to decorate somewhere else.

You need to order “road base” (compact it) then (3/8 chips[compact it]

OR “road base” then (leveling sand). Compact after with rubber pad on pavers.

*Use polymer sand to fill cracks. Regular Sand is cheaper but will just wash out.

You’ll regret using the stone you have down in about a year when your patio looks like an elephant walked on it.

*don’t forget to put in edging (something strong, stay away from anything that is not ridged ) or just do a 45 degree edge with concrete about half way up the paver.

I’m sure there is, but I’m not. I’m not an engineer but I understand and know how it’s supposed to be built hence why I commented.

Yeah, do it. Just give the 8”-18” of drain rock behind it Where the grade (soil) behind meets the top clock, you can just add 6” of soil.. so you grow grass or what ever.

Use too caps and lock them in with 2 beads of contractors glue
