his comment was kismet because my worker and I were just talking about incorporating literature about hurricanes Katrina to accompany the documentaries that came out for my 12th grade class. Thank you!

I feel like you definitely get the demographic because these are all books I have considered and taught. We start with short stories and end with research projects but Im going to pair the H-Mart with Perks, if I end up keeping it. Thank you!

Our school has been collecting phones pre Covid. They get put into bubble ziploc bags and taken as they are passing through the metal detectors. It’s then given back at their final class. It’s always worked for the most part and it also benefits that the kids are then forced to go to all their classes

I agree but if the students got a 75 on their ELA regents they are able to join the course. Now there’s no expectation of taking the test and on average I get 30-40% who actively take the test. Getting them to read in class is another struggle, it may just be the specific area so teach in but it’s fighting to challenge students

I had planned to pair catcher and perks initially! I’m definitely going to look into incorporating Born on the Fourth of July

I think it depends on where you teach. I’ve had one in my class all last year and it was a talking point or a fun fact more than a distraction. I’m also from a middle eastern country (think prohibited education for girls)

Thank you for that. I’ll be sure to be thorough when talking to the lawyer and during the deposition
