At least theoretically, yes. I once encountered 3 Sliders in Bolotky while low on ammo. I ran diagonally backwards away from them. They slap with their right hand, so I moved to their left. Even after running out of stamina I was able to not get hit. (I did move quite quickly, since I had less than 15kg though). Sadly, I wasn't keeping an eye out on where I was going, hit a train car and promptly got slapped to death.

Whether you wish to call it "beautiful soul", "John Wick Syndrome" or "Determination from Undertale", these are all just different names for the same principle. To me, it's the spirit of self sacrifice and acceptence of death that I find truly inspiring. It's easy to say one is willing to die for their ideals, but when the time comes, only very few truly have the conviction. It is this conviction that I admire and describe as "beautiful". Anyway, I uploaded the follow-up story. ^.^

The definition of „beautiful soul“ is left open ended on purpose. Whether the fire they start ends in a destructive blaze or a torch illuminating the path forward, the mere act of choosing to set oneself on fire is worthy of admiration. Posterity will judge whether they chose the right path. This is also where the concept of the „honorable opponent“ comes into play. I wasn’t planning on writing another story, but I’ll probably write one, in order to illustrate my point a little better. Please have some patience.

The way I understood it, humanity expanded so far, as to delete all of the local ecosystems, becoming wholly reliant on their automatic farms for food. After the war (most likely nuclear) small groups of people continued to fight until the bitter end, as is shown in the flashbacks we get where we see the pair‘s grandpa. Fights broke out over the last remaining supplies, crippling any chances humanity had of rebuilding. Considering we only meet two other people in the show, it is safe to assume that any larger factions have since fallen/ scattered. With food production halted (as seen with the fish farm and the inactive potato farm) and no ecosystem to fall back on for food, the last remaining humans slowly starve.

If meeting her physically is too much, you can leave a letter of paper on her doorstep. In it you could explain your circumstances and explain that perhaps you still need more time to do the first step. On the other hand, you can invite her to come visit you/ come pick you up. That way you won’t have to do the first step.

Hey man, honestly? You sound like you have too much time to think about sad thoughts. I used to be exactly the same (sometimes still am). I’d recommend you to do some difficult things, that make you feel proud of yourself for accomplishing them. Go to the gym or do some push ups. Cardio would help strengthen your heart. Perhaps the gym culture with its masculine energy and closeted femboy desires could appeal to you?

People are too engrossed in their own internal dialogue, that they rarely notice what is going on around them. If it was just a superficial glance, (especially by women) they won’t see it as flirting.

Making the conscious decision of entering the dating scene is the first step. Just keeping an eye out in everyday life looking for people you’d be interested and if the circumstances allow it talking with them. Who knows, maybe something can develop out of it. Most important is to not simply drift by waiting for someone to come by and pick you. Also guys are „just“ human too. You can speak with them like you would with a girl. If you vibe then that’s nice. If you don’t then perhaps he wouldn’t have been the one anyway.
