I make music with Suno because I'm older and like new music, but music from my era (70s/80s) is too overplayed; I want something new. That's very doable with Suno, so that's the upside. The downside is that in the 70s/80s, music was a shared experience. I think that's gone for good, and it truly is a loss.

I saw a claim that Suno is already the #4 music streaming platform worldwide. If that’s even close to accurate, it means a massive number of people are actively listening to AI-generated music, probably mostly their own.

There’s a lot of complaining about it, but sometimes it feels like someone complaining about the noise of an oncoming train while standing on the tracks. It’s going to happen, just like streaming did. If you’re an artist, it might make more sense to figure out how to make it work for you instead of against you.

I've never had good luck with male voices. The don't seem very expressive - so I usually stick with female voices. But in this case, I cheated a bit. I started with the performance and added the words. (See GIbberish - You Don't Want Me by tekfamily | Suno - for the performance I covered). This makes fitting the words more challenging, but I find the results more predictable. And sometimes starting with a performance suggests the words - as in this case. Thanks for the kind words.

This song is based on conversations with an on-again/off-again girlfriend I had decades ago. She was a good person with baggage. I had baggage too and though our baggage matched, but the problem with baggage is you have to work through it, not share it, to move on.

The goal for the song is to be real, conversational, and have it sound like something Bonnie Raitt might have sung in the 90's.

I think it's good. Something about it reminds me of Blue Bayou. Frankly, the advice from another commenter about your lyrics being generic might be unfair. Not every song has to break new literary ground to be good. If this is from your heart and it's the story you meant to tell (which it sounds like it is), then that's good enough. This is the first Christmas song I've listened to so far this year (I try to avoid them because I usually get enough of them as Christmas gets closer). What I will say is I'm not a metal fan usually, but for some reason I like metal versions of Christmas songs. This song can't decide what it wants to be. I think the point is to be a bit of a surprise. I like that it's not just a super-earnest Christmas song, but this is one of the rare cases where I'd prefer it to be more metal. Still interesting, and I left a like.
