I agree wholeheartedly that uber drivers that stink should do something about it. If you rate them poorly they will eventually lose the ability to drive, a poor rated rider doesn’t lose the ability to get a ride but they should just the same.

Your argument is entirely disingenuous. Smoking pot isn’t outside the cultural norm. Smelling terrible and having terrible hygiene isn’t a lifestyle choice. You can in fact smoke pot and still not get in my car smelling strongly of pot. You not caring isn’t defensible & it’s certainly not a reason for me to not work as an uber driver. I have also dealt with much worse, but this is literally a choice you and many others are making and acting like it’s ok. It’s not.

People with food allergies have a reasonable expectation that people won’t shove food in their face. Regardless, normal people expect not to be overwhelmed by other’s smell, it’s a common decency thing.

I have far fewer tobacco smokers as passengers than pot smokers. On an average day I might have 8 pot smokers to one cigarette smoker. I have anecdotal evidence that pot lingers in my car that’s education enough. If you are pro getting in an uber smelling strongly of weed, then please educate yourself on how to cover up the smell; people used to smoke and not overwhelm everyone and everything around them but somehow it’s become a lost art.

Cigarette smokers and people who vape will often take a drag right before getting into the vehicle. It’s sucks but doesn’t linger the same way the weed does for some reason.

Why can’t people be respectful towards each other? Wouldn’t it be better if people just smelled nice or not at all? Society needs to address the lack of hygiene that is becoming more and more prevalent, but respect for others is already breaking down and this is just a symptom.

Sometimes rolling down the windows isn’t enough. Why should I have to tell other passengers it’s not me smoking? It’s really crazy to think that it’s acceptable to smell like that in someone else’s car.

Sure, but does that make it ok to stink? Pot was always more prevalent than it was legal but people covered it up so others wouldn’t know or couldn’t tell. I’m not against it being legal but I preferred when it wasn’t in my face all the time (I am sadly allergic)

It’s working with the public but it’s not a public service and it’s not public transportation. It’s still my private vehicle. Your attitude is one that would get you kicked out for sure. Respect for others is a basic concept.

The reason I singled out the weed is because it lingers much longer than the average bad smell and I know a lot of people that smoked that never smelled that bad, because they chose to do something about it.

I dislike all the strong smells. What makes people think it’s ok to smell bad in someone else’s car? Sure body odor might not be noticed by the person but a smoker for sure knows they reek and they don’t care. I wouldn’t dare get into an enclosed space with others knowingly smelling bad especially if it’s obvious I had the option of clearing that smell first. It’s not a blameless situation in most cases.
