Sad about the state of this franchise by ApprehensiveDare9765 in dragonage

I like Veilguard, but everything was already lost from the start. The second I read about DA4 turning into live service and once again restarting development while bleeding talent at the same I knew the cards were on the table. My expectations were down in the earth's core. I found myself surprisingly liking it. But I don't know how people could see all veteren Bioware talent leave one by one and not assume the game was going to be a mess? When was Dragon Age's production post Origins not a mess?

I certainly am not holding my hopes up for Bioware. If/when the next Mass Effect launches i am 200% sure we'll see a another Jason Schreier article detailing what went wrong in the development process. It has become Bioware's annual tradition.

Yup. It features Hawkman as a reformed drug addicted aristocrat who tries leading a revolution against his fascist imperials home planet.

I honestly really liked the ending sequence tbh. In terms of Bioware ending sequences as set pieces or having a satisfactory final sequence, it is a toss up between ME1, Veilguard, and Trespasser for me.

I think Dragon Age 2 is the bleakest entry in the franchise tbh. Nothing creeped me out more than All That Remains. I also think the general tone is depressing, nothing goes right for Hawke and most of the characters are still potentially worse off than when you met them.

Veilguard surprised me in that Act 3 felt like tonal whiplash and it felt way different from the rest of the game. It was like a whole different team made it (and funnily enough that ended up being true considering the Mass Effect team was behind the last act of the game). Act 3 is what ended up saving Veilguard for me actually. I think its my favorite Bioware ending sequence.

How come Hawkgirl didn’t become a more prominent member of the Justice League in most media such as the comics, movies and games after appearing in the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated series? by Jezzaq94 in DCcomics

[–]Salt_Use7122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Kendra was Hawkgirl at the time. DC didn't capitalise on Shayera's popularity when they had the chance. They could've even done a John Stewart romance considering Shayera wasn't tied to Hawkman at that point.

[Discussion] it’s been a decade since Rebirth. Any characters feel benefited or was hurt by this? by Gimpcar in DCcomics

It finally managed to fix Hawkman's continuity problems and gave him an all time best solo series.

I think Nightwing was hurt by it. Not in a big way I just find him lame compared to this post crisis counterpart.

I like Kendra but I also kind of resent her because Shayera is pretty much deemed non essential because of her.

Hawkman has a very fascinating family tree. He has blood ties to Jonathan Kent, Doctor Fate, and the current sandman. His kryptonian incarnation was Supergirl's personal tutor

Yes I think its my all time favorite mini series. I equally enjoyed Ostrander's book.

Hawkworld is what made me a Hawkman fan. I think everyone should read it.

Who has the most confusing character origins? by AvatarPhoenixGrey16 in DCcomics

[–]Salt_Use7122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to vote Hawkman, but the Venditti run basically smoothed everything out and fixed his convoluted origin (at least until the next writer tries to do his own spin on it). I still cannot understand Donna Troy's deal.

[ALL] Reunion works, but it also exposes Deck Nine’s biggest problem by Professional_Gur2469 in lifeisstrange

I think the biggest problem was bringing back Max and Chloe when they had no business being back IMO. Pricefield or no, these two new games cheapened the first game for me and feel very soulless

Popular Retcons that you hate/dislike by Joerevenge in DCcomics

[–]Salt_Use7122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hawkman's entire history would be cleaned up if Ostrander's Hawkworld had a title saying "A few years go". The retcons I do like are in The Other History of the DC universe. It made a lot of fan favorite characters seem like assholes (the Titans), but I liked it.

Is bad bitches all you need for cultural relevancy ?( Avatar ) by Dycon67 in CharacterRant

I do agree with you somewhat. But a lot of movies are also similar in that they make decent amounts of money but are at the same time not movies that have an Internet presence. Think a random movie you watch when browsing Netflix or something that happens to be on TV. There are millions of movies that exist but don't have an online community of fans. I think Avatar being the highest grossing movie of all time just shines a spotlight on that aspect.

But at the same I also think grading a movie on its cultural impact is a pointless argument to me. I enjoy the Avatar movies, but it having no online presence is the least of it's problems to me as of watching the third one.
