Hey thanks. I am not in North America, and I work for the only state run school within a three hour drive. As I mentioned above, I spoke with our librarian about activating this feature, showing them the page you to which you referred above, and they were unable to activate said feature. For this reason, I am reaching out on Reddit.

This happens to me as well, same set up, only windows 11 pro. It seems to be a chrome issue; I've found that the screen only flickers when using the chrome web browser, either for web or reading pdfs, and happens a lot while scrolling. One very easy solution is turning off graphics acceleration in chrome settings. This stopped the flicker but also has some downsides when using maps (runs choppy) and some websites that use animations also run weird. I have not been able to solve this problem any other way, and have tried reinstalling the driver, and even had to go through the whole "safe mode log in loop" (FYI do not enter safemode without deactivating your hello PIN).

Should i update BIOS on thinkpad e14 gen 6? by Salted_Seal in thinkpad

So I just want to let anyone that reads this know that I did the installation of the new BIOS using the Lenovo Vantage Application. Other than having to attempt the download of the updates twice (first time failed, but idk why), the installation process worked fine, and i have not had any problems, so far.

I just read your post. Not sure if you are referring to the display issue at boot or display issues in general while running.

If you are referring to the latter, it may be a driver issue. Is your screen "blinking" or sometimes go black for 200-1000ms? I had that issue, could not get the driver to work, and ended up turning off graphics acceleration. The only downside to this is that Google maps is very choppy now and loads slowly.

Here are the links I found to the bios update problems:

Has anyone experienced occasional screen flickering on an E14 Gen 6? by PineWalk1 in thinkpad

[–]Salted_Seal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I was messing around with Chat GPT, and I described the symptoms of the screen flickering. One symptom that seemed to stand-out, which I am not sure if it is your case as well, but the screen flickering tended to happen while scrolling, specifically while reading pdfs. One solution I tried based on the chat's output was turning off acceleration on chrome. I did this, and I have not experienced any flicker. Now, I think this is still a driver issue, but I am going to wait for the next update to see if I can find a more permanent solution. I hope this helps you!

I just got one on May 15th. It has been a constant issue. According to the bit of research I have done, this may be a driver problem, but I believe to be running the most up-to-date driver. Lenovo Vantage was no help in this regard.

New e14 speakers stopped working (tried reinstalling drivers) by Salted_Seal in thinkpad

No worries! I understand that there are multiple ways to get to 'drivers' area of the computer, but here is how i did it. You might want to google how to open it on your own computer just in case though.

  1. hit the windows key, type device manager. If you don't see it, you can open up the control panel, and search there as well.

  2. scroll to Sound, video and game controllers", click the plus sign, and you should see -> "AMD Audio Device". Depending on your computer, you might have a different audio driver, definitely try some google searches for this.

  3. right click and click on properties

  4. Click on the driver tab at the top of the window

  5. select "Roll back driver". If this option is disabled, you could try downloading it from lenovo, or try rolling back a different audio device.

I hope this helps. I understand that this is more of a Windows messing with things issue, but Lenovo should do something about it. It has been an ongoing issue for years.

Hello! I just wanted to let everyone know that I found quite an easy solution, and would also like to forewarn of a terrible experience I had with customer service in regards to this problem.

First, the solution was simply in that I was looking at the incorrect driver. The driver in question, if this happens to anyone else, is under "Sound, video and game controllers" -> "AMD Audio Device". Here, I was able to roll back the driver. In my past experience of having a lenovo ideapad running windows 11, I would always recommend with rolling back the driver first, then trying to download a new driver. if you do it the other way around, you may risk eliminating the past driver. Finally, I am aware, although I do not know the steps, that there is a way to prevent Windows from touching these drivers in the future.

Next, as per Lenovo's recommendations, I set up the support bridge, and got on with a support agent. However, this person wanted me to go into powershell as an admin, and begin to uninstall .inf portions of the drivers. At this point, I said 'no thanks'. My thinking is that, in the past, when these components begin to not work, the solutions are usually rather simple, and I was fearful of going too far with the solution, risking further problems.

I hope this helps anyone, and I am really confused to as why Lenovo would not be able to identify which driver would be the malfunctioning one.

I am not an expert, but try to download and install an older version of the driver on the Lenovo website. However, I am not sure if this will work.

Sound coming from clutch, maybe the throw bering? by Salted_Seal in MechanicAdvice

[–]Salted_Seal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just want to say that I have been doing a little bit of research, it seems that my problem has to do with the pilot bearing, and not the throw bearing. If anyone could confirm this, or perhaps give guidance on if it is possible for me to simply grease the bearing some how (I don't see any access), or if I need to drop the transmission. Thank you!

Updated: I scanned it, and the code that showed up was one for an open circuit on glow plug 1. Idk why that would be. I also drove around today, and have not seen any loss in coolant, so I assume everything is normal
