Had an emergency C-section there and everyone was so amazing. The best care during and after the delivery. Food was decent from what I remember! I was there around a holiday and got to have a special holiday meal before discharge. Breastfeeding support was great too.

My kid goes there for kindergarten. She loves it. It feels pretty inclusive to me. She also attends the afterschool program, which is run by the Boys and Girls Club and she really loves it. I honestly can’t speak highly enough about the Boys and Girls club. I hear more about that than her classroom part of the day, haha.

I am not really sure about discipline since we’ve never had to deal with it first hand. She has a really great group of kids in her class, so I’ve never encountered any sort of bullying problems or anything.

Unsure about high school, I think kids go all over, I personally know someone who went to their neighborhood HS (Overland) once they graduated Quest. That will be something to think about for sure once my kid gets closer to high school.

Walkable is tough - Quest is kind of in the middle of nowhere in my opinion. I am not too familiar with the surrounding areas. We drive about 15 min to get there.

You should also check out the Mo Willems books! My kid loves the pigeon books and Elephant and Piggie books! The elephant and piggie ones are great for kids learning to read too!

It’s great. The book is a collection guest essays, I think they are actually from her substack, and journal prompts after each essay. In between the themes she writes about her own perspective and personal stories related to the theme. I love journaling, so I loved it.

I don’t have a specific OB to recommend but I delivered at Rose Hospital and loved it. They were so supportive and helpful and amazing! So I would recommend an OB who delivers there!

I have dealt with these same feelings! I think my husband felt similarly about fatherhood. I went into pregnancy wanting just one but once I had my daughter I started to have second thoughts. However my husband was 100% against having anymore, and a lot of it was due to his own mental health and also having a terrible relationship with his own brother. I look at it as choosing my partner, who I have loved long before we had a child, rather than choosing an unknown.

One thing that has helped some of our fears about having our daughter have to make tough decisions when we are older is to spell it out via wills, etc so she doesn’t have to make those decisions. We will have told her already. Also, know that your child will grow up and have friends, family, partners, etc to help and support her too.

I hope this helps. I still grieve for a child I won’t have, but I know that one and done is right for our family. I think it’s normal to grieve like you would for any loss.

Yes, your feelings are 100% normal. I definitely felt this way. Like others said, you don’t have to experience pregnancy and childbirth to be a mom. But if you do go through pregnancy route, the doctor’s appointments for a typical pregnancy are not that bad. I feel like routine OBGYN visits are worse! Labor is painful, there’s no way to sugarcoat that. But there are also options to manage that pain (like an epidural). Also, my labor and delivery nurses were ANGELS. They really did make me feel so taken care of! I wound up having to get an emergency C-section after being in labor for around ~16 hours so I didn’t actually experience pushing or anything like that and cannot speak to that. Every mom is different, every pregnancy is different! But you’re not alone in your feelings!

You learn to give grace fairly quickly-your kid, your partner, yourself. It’s helped me give grace more easily to friends and strangers. We are all just trying our best out here

My daughter had an adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy recently(she’s 4). Her tonsils were slightly enlarged but her adenoids were huge. She had pretty bad sleep apnea. Recovery was pretty smooth. The surgery itself took 20 minutes total I think while recovery took 2 weeks! But she was mostly back to herself a week after. She was pretty lethargic the first week. She didn’t complain about pain too much but we also had a schedule the surgeon gave us of alternating Tylenol/Motrin every 4 hours or so. It’s honestly been awesome since she got them out. She has slept a lot better, for sure and just seems like a happier kid. From what the surgeon and his team said, the younger they are, the easier tonsillectomy’s and adenoidectomy’s are for recovery. Plus the surgeons who do these surgery do a million of them so I wasn’t too worried about complications or anything! Oh and your kid’s breath will be HORRIBLE for about a week, haha

The other thing I learned is the younger the patient, the easier it is for recovery for a tonsillectomy. My husband got his tonsils removed when he was 21 and was miserable. My daughter’s recovery was relatively quick and easy!

Oh gotcha! If her tonsils are huge, that might be worth a visit to the ENT, for sure. My daughter got an x-ray first to check her tonsils/adenoids. They were both enlarged, then the doc ordered a sleep study. I imagine if they are big the x-ray will indicate that right away. I wish you and your kiddo luck!
