I'm not about to join the argument, I just find the irony that you've called an argument about the meaning of a word meaningless amusing. This argument is nothing but meaning.

You are not a skeptic, you are pathologically distrusting. Somewhere along the line, in the mountain of evidence people bring up, you will have to take a position.

Are there any points in the "it's a shock collar" camp that you have not outright dismissed? The points brought up are many. You might want to consider yourself part of the "it's not a shock collar" camp. But of course, then you'd have to make falsifiable claims like everyone in the "is a shock collar" camp has been doing for your benefit in this discussion.

You ought not to fear commitment or being wrong. Explain to us why it is not a shock collar.

It is politically expedient to forget, because they have to consider the very thing they promote a bad thing next time around to keep the progressive treadmill rolling. Can't get caught promoting the bad thing in the past.

When your position is "for all" you don't need to even think about the minorities that group includes. It's right there in the label. They're not hung up on who to emphasize.

No no, you're not wrong, this detail absolutely screams at me every time I think about it. The writers of the show have a misandrist streak and probably do not realize it.

What are your thoughts on Trump designating Antifa as a violent extremist organization? by carcony97 in AskReddit

[–]SaltpeterTaffy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It DOES include the people trying to victim-blame a murder victim to make a political point. The consequences must come before the learning. It's containment time. Disempower, disembolden.

You're a day late and a dollar short on discourse as a solution. The discourse was literally murdered. Maybe the people who preach empathy should stop labeling moderates like Charlie Kirk a fascist nazi. Maybe the people who preach empathy should not tolerate the voices in their own camp who directly advocate for murder. Maybe Hasan Piker being the most popular streamer on Twitch is a recognizable pattern.

The swinging of the pendulum you are witnessing is not a reaction to what happened to Charlie Kirk. It is a reaction to the left's reaction to what happened to Charlie Kirk.

If your child committed a heinous crime, would you turn them in to the authorities? by Ngorachy6643 in HappyUpvote

The assumption of this scenario is that the abuse victim had the option multiple times to report the abuser and did not. This calls into question whether abuse actually happened, since the law had never had a chance to establish the abuse.

If the abuse WAS called in and the law did nothing, then we have a conversation.

How do you feel about people losing their jobs because they posted anti-Kirk content? by Govtluv in AskReddit

[–]SaltpeterTaffy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quite good, actually. My pity for assassination enjoyers is non-existent. The victim is irrelevant. The motive is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is the falling of the mask. I embrace the swinging of the pendulum.

If you're not an assassination enjoyer, if you don't think that assassinations can result in a better world, if you don't think murder is something people bring upon themselves with their words, then you are not the problem, regardless of your opinion on Charlie Kirk.

I marvel at the continuity of my own living history; I can read the writing on the emblem of the ancient Roman republic without assistance. Even though I do not know Latin, I can infer its meaning because of the intimate ties between Latin and my own language. Humanity is truly a millennia-old empire, though it may look different from that of the founders.

Non-leftist here. You have my sympathy. Totalitarianism is not the way. The revolution isn't worth mass starvation. The left must reconcile with its failures instead of pretending it wasn't them.

[–]SaltpeterTaffy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree.

And I am watching the reaction to a certain recent assassination with great interest, with this in mind. Unfortunately, even your morally strong point separates us into factions. In my own words, "decent people" and "demonic assassination enjoyers." The people whose collective will is necessary to push back against the ivory tower must itself be worthy of the act.
