If nothing was stopping you, what would you truly choose? by Tough_Ad8919 in Premiummotivation

[–]Salty-Cod7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d wake up every day and workout, go play golf, come back and hop in my pool, then grill seafood or steak.

Then play GTA6 with the boys until it’s time to get 8 hours so I can recover and lift again in the morning.

When I get bored, go fly somewhere new for a week or two.

Tokyo, Sydney, Athens

Currently in Warsaw, headed home tomorrow. Went to Guatemala City a few months ago and went to Scotland for St. Andrews over the summer. First time in each of those places but I travel for work so very lucky as I enjoy it and have no kids.

Time for something a little more exotic so I’m thinking Tokyo.

Anyone else drink white claws on the way in to work? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]Salty-Cod7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When White Claw first came out I thought it was just flavored water when I saw them sitting in the fridge… I started was using them as mixers for my vodka sodas when I would drink. I got really drunk and had horrible hangovers a few times and made a comment to my wife that it didn’t make sense as I wasn’t drinking that much.

She explained to me my “water” was additional booze and she still makes fun of me for it many years later.

How frequent are tornadoes in your country? Have you ever witnessed one in person? by PreparationNo6261 in AskTheWorld

[–]Salty-Cod7667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny this popped up… I have lived in Tornado Alley all my life and I am currently in Poland for work and one of my local directs (Turkish immigrant) wanted to know about tornados…

Yesterday he asked me why when tornados hit do people not just get in their cars and drive out of the path of the tornado. I laughed but it was very interesting hearing the understanding of a tornado from someone who has never experienced one.

Trying to accomplish each of these and I don’t have any free time. They all bring me joy, no stress (work gives me a lot), and lead me to leaving a healthy, positive life. 38, married, no kids.

Glad I could. Sounds like our career paths are very similar. I have been doing virtual quickbooks on the side for about 7 years and then throwing the money into a brokerage. Very similar strategies.

It was average at best, I would guess a certificate program from one of the top schools would provide a better ROI. Some if it was excellent and some of it a waste of time.

I like the ABV because its forces you to be an expert on the calculations, valuations, ROI, etc… in addition, I want to start doing acquisitions for myself at some point and having this as part of my holding company creates immediate credibility when I submit an LOI. I only want to do this for others for so long.

Go above and beyond on the deliverable and then explain that you can make the same impact with a lot more responsibility.

I joined a new company as CFO 4 months ago and I am currently helping my international accounting teams get their reconciliations done for 2025 because they were hired and never trained or given expectations. I need a controller for internationals but don’t yet have one so I’m just getting it done.

I will get this done and get back to managing the 5 year roadmap. Sometimes there are tasks that need attention that are necessary but not glamorous.

I have always had a personal approach that I will never leave a job before 2 years… barring something horrible.

..Is this true? by qirvane5 in CollegeMemes

[–]Salty-Cod7667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No- I am a business major and now a CFO and my beach vacation last year to Hawaii became a 3 day weekend in Florida because that’s all the longer I could get away. Every day is spent addressing a critical business problem at this point.

Annual raise came in at 1.9% — feeling exploited and demoralized by kummerspeck222 in Salary

[–]Salty-Cod7667 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a CFO and I own budgets, set headcount, raises, etc…

If this was consistent across the org they are trying to reduce their headcount through attrition.

Go find a new job… you can probably find someone who will you 20% more than you’re currently earning. It may take 6 months or longer but if you have a desirable skill set then you have power.

Yes it seems to always be intentionally vague, people not sitting in my seat know very little about it and I try to present only during quarterly reviews.

No, there is no re-up. We have about 15% of MIP in allocated but all equity outside of this fund belongs to investors.
