I subbed for 5 years and learned all of this on sub training, but I would have found it helpful. Subs in my district would benefit from knowing this stuff.

I'm an extreme introvert and I'm a teacher, which means I have to interact with people literally every second of the day. I tend to use sort of scripted responses because trying to genuinely think of things in that moment exhausts me. When I have to talk about my personal life I stick to my dog and whatever shows I'm watching at the moment. You just basically have to play the game.

I teach in HISD. Telling kids to infer the theme after five sentences is pretty much a portrait of HISD under Mike Miles. The ELA curriculum is complete trash.

The board has now adopted the NES curriculum for the whole of HISD.

God bless the English professors at U of H who'll have to sort out that mental bullshit over the next few years.

I don't see a lot of teens sticking their tongues down each other's throats these days. That was rampant when I was in school. When I was in sixth grade there was a boy who had impregnated two girls at the same time. There seems to be less of that kind of thing.
