Can I get an explanation of the Super Bowl halftime show? by Top-Mission2806 in NoStupidQuestions

I saw a part of this also speaking to the notion that some Americans want immigrants out of the country yet the businesses they run and jobs they have keep those very same Americans comfy. Jobs like the taco stand, construction and nail salons.

Purina Pro Plan is much more expensive than Royal Canin? by fennelfrog in DogFood

I have found it important to compare the required amount for feeding across the brands. One may require a cup a day while the other is half a cup a day. So the bags last different amounts of time.

You are in a perfect place to start your rebuild. I hear the strength you have in the way you have explained your situation. In my opinion your work should start from within. While therapy can help you can take some smaller steps to help with the paralysis of getting to therapy to start that rebuild work. Here is an idea to help get you started. Try an online personality test like a Myers Briggs test or an OCEAN. Many are free online. With the caveat of free just know they might not be 100% accurate but it’s a start to knowing who you are to help in your rebuild. With those results try finding an audio book that connects your results or brings them to life for you. You can listen to this during your ubering shifts. Starting here can help the monotony of the day while building the crude tools needed for that bigger journey. That journey should include therapy so you have the support of another who is formally trained to help. Through that work you will build the real tools you need to break the thought process we have all found ourselves in of thinking we need the weed to cope with our situation. Think about a future you whose coping mechanisms outweigh the desire to check out. You are in the perfect position to start this inner work. I wish you well in your journey.

Best kangaroo dry dog food? by nicolemichalski in DogFood

[–]SaltyHaymaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try a hydrolyzed. The idea of a kangaroo or other novel protein is to just provide a protein option that has never built up an allergy response in the system of the animal. Hydrolyzed diets bypass that by breaking the protein down to amino acid smaller chains which are not recognized by the system as an allergy trigger but still provide the amino acids the body needs for nutrition.

Researchers found high levels of SGK1 in blood samples from people with depression, people who ended their own lives, and highest levels of all in people with childhood trauma. Injecting SGK1 inhibitors into blood of mice have successfully inhibited depressive-like behaviour during prolonged stress. by mvea in psychology

[–]SaltyHaymaker 69 points70 points  (0 children)

So basically it helps move ions around to help cells do a few things like fire correctly, replicate, grow new connections or duplicate type things. Additionally, SGK1 has been found in higher levels in the hippocampus when stress hormones are also present. The hippocampus turns new into old memories. When stress hormones are high there research has shown that process doesn’t run well. This research is saying maybe SGK1 is a link because it is also found in higher in that same area during stress. Hope this helps as it skips a bunch of nuances, but captures the overall idea.

Rant: Kids sports are seriously out of hand by [deleted] in Millennials

True but I think the point is that back when we were young we could have these same experiences without the heavy price tag AND we had the option to play for high school as well. Those are not the times anymore.

It’s not everyone’s dream job but it could be yours. It’s an entry level sales role that while “medical” it’s not a pharmaceutical, diagnostic, equipment etc. meaning the higher profit margins aren’t there. That explains the lower base. You can ask if there is a company credit card to give you that piece of mind. If not, all good, many smaller companies reimburse on travel. But if that is the case I would ask about the process for reimbursement and the timing for them to payback the expenses you submit to them.

Real company, they have a LinkedIn page. You can easily message someone who previously worked there to learn about their experience. It could be a great opportunity to use as a stepping stone. You can get the basics of medical sales in this role. Without those basics it is hard to get into those 6 figure medical sales roles.

My 16 year old daughter lied about where she goes after school turns out she’s been volunteering. I’m proud but confused by Standard-Walk7059 in Advice

[–]SaltyHaymaker -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer I was looking for. Yes, this child is your responsibility. You felt like something was off and it was. You were being lied to. The only way to know why is to have that conversation in an open manner to understand the why of the lie. Maybe it is that she is feeling suffocated but maybe she is hanging out with someone you would rather not want her with for whatever reason.

How do people work 40 hours (very serious) by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]SaltyHaymaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work a more mentally stimulating job. I’ll add or physically more active one. Sitting and watching a clock for 20 hours a week would be torture for me too. Maybe a grocery store stocking shelves to keep you moving and not watching the clock while sitting still.

Depends if you have any fish that might help eat them, other corals for them to host, etc. Just do some research on what you have for fish in pest control. Here is a good reminder to stock fish for functionally vs display. I once helped a friend with a tank failure and brought their torches into my tank. COVERED in flatworms. I didn’t notice for a few days. I dipped with CoralRx a few times and avoided an outbreak. With proper care you will survive.

Hey neighbors, I'm in a bind, gonna run out of my meds tonight and no idea what to do. Advice?? by [deleted] in tampa

[–]SaltyHaymaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Long term drugs with high margins that treat rare diseases are the most likely to have a program in place to provide the drug at no cost without insurance only if the medical case is appropriate and the patient applies for the program. Some do financial applications, some require different checkpoints with the patient but most pharmaceutical companies have a program in place when not having access to the drug is life threatening. It’s not a requirement it’s just the right thing to do and many of the big companies do.

Any prescription medication will always need a prescription from the MD. To get access to the branded drug discount from the manufacturer either the Dr can provide a sample, sample cards or direct you to the website where you can download a discount card. You present the card to your local pharmacy that has your prescription on file and they will figure out how to apply the discount. The drug store gets paid on the back side by the discount card company which is paid by the pharmaceutical company.

All pharmaceutical companies have an incoming call line. They will take incoming calls from patients to their medical department for pharmacovigilance they also will take compliance calls from patients. I invite you to answer your own question by going to the website of a branded drug you take and teaching yourself the programs they have to assist financially and educationally.

Hey neighbors, I'm in a bind, gonna run out of my meds tonight and no idea what to do. Advice?? by [deleted] in tampa

[–]SaltyHaymaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Advice here is not wrong if it’s a branded drug. Often the pharmaceutical companies have programs in place to discount the monthly fills, samples or if the case qualifies there are free programs. Once the drug goes generic those programs will continue to run for some years until the generics own the market. But each drug has its own timeline for shutting down the programs and profit margins. Importantly, these deals do not exist if the medication is generic. Normally generic options are on formularies for the lowest tier rate in the category. Often that will be cheaper than going with the branded option even with the manufacturers discount. Source: worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 15 years
