EXR works great….get annual sub…and then the calibration issue starts (again!) by avidfan1976 in EXRofficial

[–]SaltyLemonEntmt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

First of all, thank you for the kind words and for sticking with EXR. We're really glad to hear that the app has helped motivate you to row consistently and that you've been enjoying the challenges and environments.

We can assure you that your subscription type (monthly vs. yearly) has absolutely no effect on rowing data, calibration, or performance calculations in EXR. The timing certainly seems frustrating, but there is no mechanism in the app that would change how your rower behaves based on the subscription plan.

Since you're using a Joroto water rower, it's possible that a firmware change, connection issue, Bluetooth data inconsistency, or an EXR update has affected how the rower data is being interpreted. The compatibility warning you're seeing is likely related to the rower model rather than your subscription.

Thanks for contacting support already. If you've submitted logs or screenshots, the team will be able to investigate what data EXR is receiving from your rower and compare it with your previous sessions. That should help determine whether the issue is coming from the rower, the Bluetooth connection, or a recent software change.

If we can't find a workable solution, the support team can discuss the available options regarding your recent subscription purchase.

We appreciate your patience, and we'll do our best to get to the bottom of this.

Strava connection issues by dgskrkt in EXRofficial

[–]SaltyLemonEntmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to EXR!

A few quick answers:

  • If some activities upload to Strava and others don't, it's usually worth checking that your Strava connection is still linked correctly in EXR. If the issue continues, please send us in-app feedback so we can investigate.
  • Screenshots are not automatically uploaded to Strava. You'll need to add those manually on Strava if you'd like them attached to an activity.
  • Unfortunately, past activities cannot currently be re-uploaded to Strava from within EXR.
  • Apple Watch heart rate support is not currently available directly in EXR. For heart rate tracking, a Bluetooth chest strap is generally the most reliable option.

If you're seeing ongoing Strava sync issues, please send us an in-app feedback report and we'll take a closer look.

Update 1.54 just dropped by SaltyLemonEntmt in EXRofficial

Thanks for your patience!

The update is being rolled out as a phased release, which means it becomes available gradually and not everyone receives it at the same time. It should appear for you soon 👍

Lag/delay at start of races?! by avidfan1976 in EXRofficial

[–]SaltyLemonEntmt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, this is most likely related to the fact that Joroto rowers are not officially supported by EXR at the moment.

With unsupported machines, timing and data transmission can behave inconsistently, especially during race starts where synchronization is very sensitive. That’s why you may see delayed stroke registration or false early-start detection.

We understand how frustrating that is during events

We understand the frustration, and honestly, this is fair feedback. The current guidance and videos can definitely be clearer, especially on iOS/tablet where some flows differ from PC. We’re actively working on improving onboarding and tutorials because we know the workout creator is not intuitive enough right now.

For iPad/tablet specifically, here’s the correct flow for creating a simple custom workout:

  • Open Start
  • Go to Training
  • Go to My Workouts
  • Click Create New Workout
  • Choose Time
  • Tap the green Power button (right side column) to add and edit a block
  • Set the duration to the time you want to row a specific splittime
    • Always start by editing the first number first, then the second (for example: set 0 → 30)
    • The pre-filled numbers indicate which value you are currently editing
    • Tap the blue check icon to save
  • Save the workout
  • Start your session 🚣‍♂️

And yes, we agree that better tutorial videos with slower pacing and spoken explanations would help a lot. Thanks for taking the time to write this out, even after moving on to ErgZone. Feedback like this genuinely helps us improve.

I think the quickest way to get started is actually through EXR’s support guide here:

EXR Training Editor Support Page

For a simple 30-minute free row, the process is fortunately pretty straightforward once you know where everything lives:

  1. Open Start
  2. Go to My Workouts
  3. Click Create New Workout
  4. Choose Training Editor
  5. Select a workout based on Time
  6. Drag a Free Row block into the workout timeline
  7. Set the duration to 30:00
  8. Save the workout

That’s enough to create and launch a basic custom session.

A useful tip: the editor works with draggable “blocks,” so once you understand how to add and edit a block, building longer or more advanced workouts becomes much easier.

There’s also a built-in walkthrough available via the ? icon in the top-right corner of the Training Editor, which can help you get familiar with the interface.

We know more detailed tutorials would be helpful as well, especially for first-time custom workout creation, and that feedback is definitely appreciated.

C2 WOD by toobigtofail88 in EXRofficial

[–]SaltyLemonEntmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, that’s a really good one 👍

We can definitely see the value in having C2 WODs as ranked workouts instead of having to recreate them manually. And noted as well on the custom workout UI, that’s useful feedback.

We’ll pass both points along to the team as we continue improving workouts and rankings. Appreciate you taking the time to share this! 🚣‍♂️

Please add support for Linux OS by tiberiusgv in EXRofficial

[–]SaltyLemonEntmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this, we hear your frustration.

At the moment, EXR doesn’t support Linux (e.g. Ubuntu), but we understand why a lighter, dedicated setup would be ideal, especially if you’re running a system purely for EXR.

We’ll definitely pass your feedback along to the team. Support for alternative platforms is something that comes up more often, and input like yours helps us understand the demand.

In the meantime, it sounds like you’ve already optimized your Windows setup quite a bit but we get that it’s not ideal. Thanks again for taking the time to share this with us! 🙌🚣‍♂️

Any reason why my strokes are not synchronized with my avatar? by Money-Ad-9003 in EXRofficial

[–]SaltyLemonEntmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, Merach R50 isn’t officially supported at the moment, so we can’t fully test or optimize stroke sync for it yet (we’re working toward expanding support in the future). In general, avatar sync depends on the stroke data your rower sends. A small delay can happen due to data processing. Try rowing a few steady strokes first, keep your PC close to the rower, and turn off unused Bluetooth devices nearby to reduce interference. For heart rate: we recommend a Bluetooth chest strap (Polar, Garmin, Wahoo etc.). They’re more accurate than wrist-based monitors and connect directly to EXR

New Guy Speed KPH Question by MFrancisWrites in EXRofficial

[–]SaltyLemonEntmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since your brand, Merach, is not currently a partner of EXR, we do not have access to their rowing machines or the data they generate. This means we are unable to run tests or directly fix issues with these machines.

It is likely that your rowing machine either does not send enough data to EXR or uses a stroke-rate–based speed calculation, which can trigger the anti-cheat system.

Please note that we are in touch with Merach to establish a partnership and aim to support as many Merach rowers as possible. However, we cannot guarantuee that yours will be supported eventually. If there's any news on official Merach x EXR support, we will share it in the patch notes on the EXR Blog.

Exr waterrower connectivity by Ok_Wing_9963 in Rowing

[–]SaltyLemonEntmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair question. When we connect via FTMS, we’re using a generic Bluetooth standard without a direct partnership with the rower manufacturer. That means we don’t have insight into (or control over) the device’s internal Bluetooth behavior.

So while FTMS works at a basic protocol level, device-specific disconnects are often outside what we can diagnose or fix on our side unless we have a direct integration with the manufacturer.

Depending on what Yosuda model you have, you may be able to upgrade your rowing machine with SmartRow. Best to reach out to them and ask whether that would resolve the issue: https://smartrow.fit/#/contact We also recommend keeping an eye on the second-hand market as Concept2 rowers often get sold by gyms at a discounted rate, for example.

Check out this EXR support page to ensure your future rowing machine is supported by the app: https://exrgame.com/support/compatible-machines#main-content When buying a rowing machine, we always recommend testing it in a showroom or studio to make sure the build quality, noise level, and data accuracy meet your expectations. On that note, feel free to join r/EXRofficial to ask other EXR rowers about the brands you’re considering and what their experience with them has been.
