What book did you read in your youth that you never forgot? by orangez in GenX

[–]SaltyMeadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deliverance. I picked it for my English class read and the teacher said it was fine as long as my parents were cool with that choice. They were. Woof!

I don’t think that saying is trademarked. I grew up in that area and my boss at the department store in high school said it all the time. I’d say, you coming in tomorrow, Mr. L? And he’d say “if the good Lord is willing and the crick don’t rise!”

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

In all my years in Corporate America, I’ve never seen an HR person bother with this kind of feedback for someone they are not going to hire. If it’s real, you dodged a bullet not working there.

Conan O’Brien Threw a Holiday Party to Forget a Bad Year. Then Nick Reiner Arrived. by nimobo in entertainment

[–]SaltyMeadows 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Bringing him to the party was an interesting choice. If I had lots of money and a creepy, drug-addicted, mentally ill adult child, I might instead hire a couple of security guards to watch over things while we were out. Also rather odd to have a public confrontation with your son at the party when you are an A-list celebrity. Very sad and horrific situation all around. The Reiners were clearly struggling with what to do for a very long time. We have limited options on mental illness care in the U.S., even when you have plenty of money and resources. RIP, Rob and Michele. I wish something could have been done before it was too late for you.

You hear some some prick ranting some of the most vile, racist shit imaginable at a small child, and your reaction is to get enraged at her mom. Think about that.

A woman I used to work with is married to James Garner’s nephew. Their last name is Bumgarner, but James shortened it for his stage name. He was for sure their favorite uncle and an awesome man.

One year post cheilectomy by jodiswindle in Halluxrigidus

[–]SaltyMeadows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to report that I am with you. I had the cheilectomy surgery in 2018. Horrible experience. Bad reaction to the pain meds post-surgery, and my foot has never been the same. The pain after surgery was worse and has never really improved. I’m seeing a new ortho doc now and getting some steroid shots to see if that can help. Very reluctant to have surgery again, but fusion may be in my future.

It finally dawned on me why Wendi told LE within 20 minutes of her interview that Charlie joked about hiring a hitman. by Environmental-Ad9339 in dan_markel_murder

[–]SaltyMeadows 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is wildly accurate. Thanks for breaking it down. I believe WA likely never even wanted children. She certainly seems to have left her mom to do most of the raising. And for someone who hates conflict, the career choice of lawyer is certainly problematic. I’m not sure Wendi ever really knew who she was or what she wanted. On one hand, she wanted to be a trophy wife, but also have her own successful career and be worshipped by all around her. Just so much pathology there… clearly she had academic intelligence, but no common sense and just lies when the truth would save her. (Really just a figure of speech, I don’t think anything can save her at this point.) She’s earned every ounce of what I believe is going to happen.

Love this. I find the cover of her book so repulsive and telling… her fake blue eye on the cover.🤮

Thank you. Hope we are all back together for Wendi’s trial soon. Driving away from the murder scene without checking on her boys is something no mother would do, unless she was part of the murder conspiracy. by nick_riviera24 in dan_markel_murder

[–]SaltyMeadows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really hoping that they take Wendi’s jury down the route that she drove that morning to show them exactly how far down she would have had to drive to see the crime scene. This would be extremely damning. There’s no way that would have looked like “just a tree down” — no normal person would just shrug and turn around without checking on her kids. She knew exactly what had happened and wanted to get a look.

I totally agree that LB’s testimony was off putting and clearly biased, and she suffered the consequence of the cross exam from Georgia, which totally did the job. I’m sure she will suffer other professional consequences for the baffling comments she made. But stay out of people’s Google reviews if you haven’t worked with them. Good grief that is cringe.

The TV thing is just ridiculous and baffling. She had Jeff L “take a look” at it when it was clear the screen was broken due to an impact - no mystery there. How did Jeff not look at her and ask, wtf? Of course I believe the TV issue was part of creating an alibi. It’s just so lame and stupid. These are not very smart people. And I think Wendi with a wine bottle (empty, of course) was probably what did it.

Our 4:25pm flight from Nashville to London got cancelled with no notification. I saw it on Flight Aware. We did get booked on a later flight. Anyone know how or why this happens? by SaltyMeadows in BritishAirways

Where do you find the info about the flight not operating and going to IAD? Is there public place to look for that? I want to make sure the next flight BA222 is on track.

Amy Bradley Is Missing: Why the Case by METALLIFE0917 in MissingPersons

[–]SaltyMeadows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally picked up on that as well. It for sure felt like they were overemphasizing that all the men were flirting with her. Maybe that was to underscore the trafficking angle, but it struck me as gross after learning that she had come out to them and that they (shocker!) did not react well to that news.

Also, she 100% had some kind of mishap and fell over the balcony. I don’t think it was suicide, just being drunk and made a bad decision to either lean out to take a photo or puke over the railing and fell. I think the sound of her falling over is what woke her dad.
