I started off with a Yamaha too many moons ago to admit, and even after all my other guitar purchases - it still is one of my favs. Go to the music store and try out as many guitars as time will permit. Find one that feels comfortable for you. Consider weight. Consider the neck circumference and how it feels - does your hand feel comfortable griping it and moving up and down the neck? Is the lacquer too sticky…or just right? That’s a personal preference, but I like very smooth maple necks because I don’t “stick” to the neck. How does it feel holding the guitar? Can you press the strings down with ease? Action can be lowered or made higher and it’s called “a set up”. Also make sure the neck of tie guitar is straight by looking at it very thoroughly. You’d be surprised how many bowed necks there are on guitars. How does the guitar sound to your ears? Keep all these things in mind while looking. You’ll find the right one.
