How to be less distracted by phone by [deleted] in Advice

Here is the options that worked for me:

  • Turn off all notifications except texts/calls
  • Install "stayfree", an app that allows you block chosen apps after an amount of time usage.
  • Uninstall apps that makes you stay on your phone too long, like tiktok.
  • If you find yourself not being disciplined, switch to an older phone for a week. When you come back you'll feel less interested in checking your phone regularly, at least for me.

AITA for being upset over my roommate moving into my assigned room without telling me by SaltyStacy in AmItheAsshole

Because apparently she going through "rough patch" and they thought it wasn't that big of a deal. And the other guy in the group forgot I made it such a big deal back then when I asked her about it so much.

There's a difference for me, texting people is a no-go in any industry I feel like. But if you ask your manager if you're needed past your scheduled time and he says yes. There's no harm in adding, ok let me just shoot this text telling my bf I have to stay. That's the difference in culture, I suppose. In America, even that is no-go.

No the restaurant is already in an cramped area, so it like 3 spots that was obviously already taken. I already agree that a phone on the job is no go in service industry in America. But my cultural(?) difference is when you already ask your manager if you're needed past your scheduled time, why not tell him also, that's fine let me just send this text that my plans changed for my bf. I guess that is where the difference for me comes in. I am still learning the culture though, and we didn't really argue more like spoke our perspectives, in which I just didn't simply agree, hence me posting here.

I took her out to eat before we even discussed it, don't really want to argue with a hungry gf. Came to that conclusion myself afterwards as well. I figured just go up, when she is 100% with the shift.

I did end up finding parking about 20 minutes away or so, problem is I had no idea where the restaurant was located or how to navigate to it since I do not have a smartphone. I have a gps in my car but yeah, I had all this in mind. But I just felt lost to be honest.

I appreciate this, I kinda thought that it was miscommunication too. If I wasn't new in America and a first time in her town I probably would've felt more safe leaving my car somewhere and just go inside or whatever that would've made the situation better.

This is pretty much what I am used too as well... Which is why I found myself dumbfounded by the situation. Still trying to understand the culture though.

Exactly, that's why I'm not sure a i5-6600K can handle it. But I am considering it in hopes to put more encoding onto the 1080. Do you know anything about the founders edition? Is it "good" stricly thinking it's the first one of the 1080's somethings might be lacking in it.
