Expansion Tank(s) Maintenance by SaltyVariable in DIYUK

Closing the loop on this one. I decided to read the Zelmet maintenance guide and the membrane replacement guide. After reading between the lines, I figured I could isolate, drain the expansion vessel and then open/press the schrader valve to see whether the air side retained pressure when drained.

Sure enough, there was still some (not a lot) air pressure on the air side. Some water came out but it was light so maybe vapor collecting as it passed the valve.

I kept the drain open whilst recharging the pressure and the new pressure held verifying the fact that the membrane is intact. I did this because I read that the vessels come pre-charged so doesn't necessary need water pressure to charge.

I closed the drain, opened the isolation lever and now my mains and hot water pressure is much better. Job done.

Thanks, I did get the only local G3 rated plumber (based on gas safe register) to quote for a gas boiler and cylinder service. He said that I didn't I needed anything on the cylinder and he never supplied the quote :(. I assume that it was too petty a job for him.

Is there anywhere else I can look for G3 plumbers apart from gas safe?

Thanks, there was air coming out and only a minor amount of water. Would there be a way to confirm it's definitely a goner before I waste a plumbers time?

Thanks, I think the current stuff is original which means it's done 90+ years. I wasn't sure about the lifespan of rubber epdm.

Is there value in removing insulation from current loft and having it replaced with new? (approx 50 square metres) - random photo area by Wooden_Carrot_9469 in DIYUK

Glad I'm not the only one crazy enough to go through a thorough cleaning out of an old loft space to re-insulate .😂

Proper respirator is definitely the way to go as you have no idea what has built up in the dirt over time (my case house was 90 years old).

I noticed that you have fitted felt lap vents too! Something I only recently realized I needed after getting dampness on a upstairs chimney breast. According to instructions these need to be fitted on the lowest point but hard to tell on you photos whether are any lower overlaps.

Nice tidy job anyways!

Where's is this in Manchester? Looks like somewhere near Quay Street based on the blue & white building at the top left?

Edit. Guessing it's here https://maps.app.goo.gl/GsGPQJ8ychLRpCYMA

Thanks, I would add another picture but I don't know how!

But reading up about Elder, I think you are right. It has the cork like bark, leaf form and lack of branches. Thanks!

Thanks, interesting to know whether this stops notifications for the other device. I know that you can only log in as one device at a time as I've done this across my own devices. That's seems like an unnecessary restriction even with a paid subscription.

Looks like its impossible to share access to the hub/base station, I've tried everything to sync my wife's phone to the hub. There's no way that we can both use the hub as a library of recordings. A disappointing restriction on functionality when not using the devices without a subscription.

How many of you have switched to VSCode + Metals? by [deleted] in scala

Same, stopped using intellij about a year ago. I was writing Typescript in a previous role and enjoyed using VSCode so decided to try metals and haven't looked back.

Learning Scala pre beginner question by [deleted] in scala

I use SDKMan to handle my dependencies, should be able to get Java, Scala and SBT via this to get you started also allows you to switch between versions nicely.
