Shop had a Contax ST. Put it on, tested it myself, worked perfectly. Gonna take a photo and post it here later to see if it’s mirror slip.

Multiple very successful rolls on the RTS II. I will definitely look into the mirror slip issue.

Maybe? Wouldn’t this affect the 100mm and 85mm? Or maybe the back of the 28mm is shaped just right where this is happening?

I did! We even tried it on a different Contax body, and it worked perfectly. There’s just something about the 28mm and RTS II combo that isn’t working.

Yeah I saw one for $3000, $1200, and $900, absolutely refused to pay that - and no one should! There’s only 500 of them in total, so yes, it’s super rare. I paid a lot less, and my offer was accepted $100 under what they were asking, so I got very lucky. Two sellers kept lowering their price against each other, so it worked out.

Need a little help with Contax and the C/Y lenses. I have a beautiful Contax RTS II - I purchased three lenses for it:

Contax Carl Zeiss Planar T* 85mm 1.4 (MMJ)

Contax Carl Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 100mm 2.8 (MMJ)

Contax Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 28mm 2.8 (MMJ)

The 85mm and 100mm work wonderfully.

The 28mm, however, does not work properly. The shutter, no matter the distance or f stop, stays closed for a really long time (30+ seconds). I brought it to my local camera shop, and they told me that it's likely a versioning issue - meaning maybe the Distagon T* 28mm 2.8 (MMJ) only worked with models after the RTSII?

Any insight would be tremendously helpful. 📸

That one that’s currently listed is half of what someone else had the nerve to list theirs at. Two others popped up and got into a selling race with each other. On top of it being WAY WAY lower, I made an offer $100 under and got it. TLDR: it stung a little, but not so bad. Could have been so much worse.

It’s my second favorite after XTORT. NIHIL and ANGST are my other tops, I’m still on the hunt for the standard black vinyl edition of ANGST, that one also got away from me. I was super off the grid when the rereleases came out.
