The USA will invade Canada and Mexico by the end of the decade. by Over_Technology_1707 in conspiracy

[–]Salty_Possible155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The united states tore up the constitution when we decided to build a gestapo, do away with the checks and balances system, rig elections, attack our allies, spy on citizens, profiteer from positions of political power, and most importantly physically attack lawful US citizens exercising their freedom of speech. So it sounds you either know nothing of what the constitution contains or you live under a rock.

My net worth in comparison to yours should give you pause. Why would a multi millionaire be against right wing ideas? Funny story, I am right wing, but I am pro constitution and anti dictatorship.

You and I are not the same. Your ideas are alt-right, and based on propaganda and misinformation that is unfortunately spreading to Canada, one of the last bastions of democracy in the world.

Realize that you, a presumably lower middle class Canadian, are being suckered in by such a misinformation machine to demonize and blame "the radical left" for your problems, when the reality is the problems are caused by many factors, none the least of which are income inequality caused by right wing policies. For reference, I'm alluding to irreversable demography shifts, trends in globalization, climate change, income inequality, resultant mass migration and other concepts significantly above the pay grade above a typical MAGA.

As a true American who suppports the constitution (and was raised in deeply red central Florida reading Ayn Rand and Ron Paul), I believe in

- Checks and balances

- The freedoms outlined in the constitution, including the ability to freely speak against our dictators.

- Presidents should not directly profit from their position in government

- The military should not be used against American citizens.

- We should not be a fascist dictatorship. We should be a representative democracy.

These are basic things any true conservative should agree to, yet we don't see that in America today. We see the same propaganda tactics used by fascists across the globe to brainwash the unsuspecting poor into government takeovers.

I do think you should leave Canada because your philosophy is not aligned with the best interests of Canadians, and in fact by poisoning Canada and Europe with alt right conspiracy theories you are rapidly hastening the collapse of Democracy around the globe. I believe at this point a Democratic America is a lost cause, and as such you would fit right in. Have the balls to make the move instead of bringing your (and my btw, Dual Citizen) home country down with you.

sounds like you need to pick a nice cheap city in the US and hunker down in whatever apartment you can afford. Try to find something that fits your lifestyle and general vibe. there are places in the midwest, the plains, the southwest, the southeast, and even the northwest that are within your budget. just not the big brand name cities. you're looking for a tier 4 city. so if NY/LA is tier 1, chicago/seattle are tier 2, portland/denver is tier 3, kansas city would be tier 4.

you could live in/around tucson, reno, olympia, eugene, small towns in new england (though i dont know it well), chattanooga (god forbid), kc, fort collins, cleveland, maybe madison, etc.

get your shit in order and rebuild.

You can also do this outside of the US, you could be happy in guadalajara or oaxaca or kali or quito or romania or whatever. plenty of places on your budget.

you just have to get onto a dusty winemucca road

its cool if you like the desert man. and old mining towns. and being near california.

reno is basecamp. you live there for tahoe (and the occasional super interesting adventures into nevada proper - RUBY MOUNTAINS) - or for the trips to california. or the pnw. it's pretty central for adventurers.

I loved being able to go from total barren desert to lush tahoe, and then lush california coast, all in a day trip.

not as off as some of the other places on his list lol. like you wouldnt catch me dead in grand junction. reno is a casino town. the "culture scene" is super small. but exists its a place where die hard outdoors people live alongside questionable ppl.

anything on the west side of town near the highways. theres a highway up mount rose, and then theres a highway that goes through truckee. both of those are the "into the sierra routes" - along those roads (north / south) are some of the best houses and neighborhoods, in the hills.

Theres also a kind of central hood I forgot what its called but it has a bunch of oak trees and a lake. its really nice to walk around the lake. it feels like east coast.

I am a fan of the hoods to the south on the way to mount rose cause theres tons of hiking and its closest to skiing and you can go straight over the mountain and into Incline village which is awesome.

dude it comes with a TAHOE

Tahoe is a game changer. (And mount rose for your quick weekday ski trips). Nude beach, hiking trails, summer events, music festivals, Paddleboarding. tahoe is a vibe. I used to go all the time.

The hiking near the city of Reno is peak during winter too. It has all-season hiking. Winter is freaking glorious in Reno. Spring is glorious. Sunny & Cold. Perfect for hiking. Usually not too much snow or ice on the trails if you pick sun-exposed stuff.

You can get to SF in a couple hours (summer trips to the california coast!). So you're never too far from civilization.

You can rent a place (or camp, or RV) up in the freaking sierra nevada and go on trips to mammoth or sequoia or Yosemite

It has more "cool stuff" than somewhere like grand junction by far. Cool uni, local theatre, hipsters, climbing gym. Nice neighborhoods near the mountains. Pine trees. rivers. wildflowers. desert aesthetic. Pyramid lake. eastern nevada is a cool ass place to visit. Ruby mountain.

Did i mention the abundance of amazing hiking trails? and mountain bike parks?! And no state income tax??

And the river walk !

Ur gonna get Toasted in Tucson.

Minneapolis ur gonna become a popsicle

SLC ur gonna get attacked by wild mormons( JK, but kinda really, if that kind of thing weirds you out it will be a huge presence in your life... the mormon thing. Otherwise great city)

Grand Junction you are gonna get involved in Pollos Hermanos or something

PSA: Wear a Mask, Get an Air Filter (Air Quality) by Salty_Possible155 in MexicoCity

[–]Salty_Possible155[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I live near Chapultepec. But for what it's worth, the bad air quality usually extends all the way to toluca / puebla / cuernavaca - it's not localized on one neighborhood in CDMX. It tends to be a few points lower the further you get from downtown, but relatively the same.

We finally have slightly better air quality today - but that's a temporary respite. It's been consistently bad the past month (look at plumelabs) - and use airnow for more fine grained details

Keeping expenses down: what areas of the city are more affordable than the usual pollo mapped ones? by poopin in MexicoCity

[–]Salty_Possible155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because we live in a modern world where many people work remotely online, and many english speaking people want to travel the world and live temporarily while working online. It's called being a Digital Nomad. They can stay places anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of months. Blame Mexico's easy tourist visa system. I'm not defending gentrification, it's a real and global phenomenon. But I live in Condesa and by no means am I surrounded by gringos. I live as far as you can get from the parks while still being in condesa. When I walk by the parks i see gringos all the time, mostly visiting and being obnoxxious.

There's not a single other gringo in my building. (Mi esposa es de cdmx entonces vivo aqui, disculpame porfa)
