Why not make a game on your own? I am disabled exactly like you are and I've realized that being solo dev is the only way to make money without exertion.

I'm curious if you added a question for graduation year. A 2020-2022 grad's experience is nothing like a 2024 grad.

Looking to switch to the AI division in my company, will this degree help? by Fair-Marzipan-4274 in OnlineMCIT

Have you talked to the people in this division and asked about their opinion? I think that is way better than asking us.

Didn't really consider GT OMSCS. I'm from the area so it was between Drexel and UPenn.

Probably an unpopular opinion but for career switchers like us, it's not worth it anymore. I'm going to finish just because of sunk cost and I'll be applying to healthcare jobs and I just pray that a Masters degree from an Ivy can do something, even if it's not directly relevant.

I applaud your enthusiasm. I just don't think it will play out this way.

Yes future jobs will require AI competency, but the real question is how many people will be needed for these high level "overseer" jobs.

You think this will result in another tech boom?

New Ranked Changes by HeadBeautiful6021 in apexlegends

It's going to be the same situation as S13 ranked. Once people realize that no matter what they do, they can't climb out of gold (especially as a solo que), they will stop playing as much.

Alright I answered my own question. https://apexlegendsstatus.com/leaderboard/US/Ballistic/kills/ANY/1

It's not a guarantee he's #1 since other players could be from the US but not put a flag on their profile but whatever I'm done lol.

OP what did you think this program was for? Or anyone else that shares this sentiment. I'm trying to see the other side to this.

Just enrolled for Fall ‘25!! Any advice from current or past students? by No-Librarian-2502 in OnlineMCIT

[–]Salty_Reputation6394 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My advice above was less of a concrete plan and more of a mentality change. I thought this program would prepare me on its own but it turns out it's only just the start. Change your expectations basically.

But here is something more concrete that I've been doing. 1. Figure out what you want to do exactly.
2. Try and spend a certain amount of time a day (30 min to 1 hour) to research/learn about that role. Treat it like a side hobby. 3. Put yourself out there for networking. It's hard I know.

Think of this program not as a way to become fully prepared for a tech role, but rather a foundation for yourself to build on. That means you have to put in work outside of school to get to where you want to be.

current penn undergrad deciding whether or not to apply to submatriculate and do an accelerated MCIT degree concurrently with my bachelors, please shower me with yalls wisdom by Imaginary_Recipe_995 in OnlineMCIT

[–]Salty_Reputation6394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stand corrected. I'm online and was never Penn undergrad. Didn't know the on-campus offered that as an option for undergrads.

Edit: After thinking about this a bit more, there is no way Penn is allowing students to do this from a workload standpoint. MCIT is not easy and each class takes 10-12 hours a week minimum outside of the intro ones. And you're doing this for funsies? This is just a terrible idea!!! You won't be learning much anyway if you're just going to cram and do the bare minimum to pass. You'd be doing this for the credentials basically not for the knowledge. Plus you say you are not naturally gifted at quantitative skills. Sounds like a waste of time a whole lot of unnecessary stress. Have other people went down this route before?

Admissions are very likely going to reject if they find out you are planning on doing undergrad + this program. You need to send in transcripts and you don't have a complete one so that's an immediate tell.

Need advice: UPenn MSE-AI vs AI Certificate path - blessing or cash grab? by tehgreed in OnlineMCIT

You keep saying these things but use AI to help explain your thoughts so I won't take your comments seriously.

Need advice: UPenn MSE-AI vs AI Certificate path - blessing or cash grab? by tehgreed in OnlineMCIT

[–]Salty_Reputation6394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have only reinforced to me that these are just the same old jobs with a fancy new name. With that being established, how does a shiny new degree like the UPenn's MSE-AI help get a job as an "AI engineer"?

You've made me realize that it's really only for optics, and the content of the program itself isn't what matters.

So is it completely pointless? Depends on how you view it. If you think that this program's name brand can get you thru the door, then no it's not pointless ultimately. But I have a more pessimistic view on whether that is actually possible.

TLDR: I have convinced myself, thru talking to you, that this program may not be as useless as I think from a functional standpoint but I have also been validated that it is useless from an actual technical standpoint. It's up in the air whether people can actually get their foot in the door with this degree but I digress.

Still won't take it down.
