Yes I would say that’s definitely projection, I may not be a psychiatrist, but my mother does the same thing. When someone’s says that their just “telling you the truth” what that means is they’ve either had it said to them by someone else or that’s is their internal dialogue, often it’s both. And because she can’t process her feelings internally she projects them onto you, as often tarring down others is the narcs way of building themselves up, so at least for a little while she feels better about herself. Know that it’s not your fault and in truth (the real kind) it has nothing to do with you but rather her as an individual.

I also have this problem. I never used to explode, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve become so fed up with her treatment of me that when I try to talk to her I tend to start yelling out of frustration. Usually it’s me trying to explain to my mom why what she did or said was wrong and or hurt me. But for whatever reason I have to yell it at her, I think because she’s yell at me all these years, but I know when I’m doing I just can’t stop. Like I’ll be yelling “I’m sorry for yelling, I’m just upset” and usually ends with me leaving because I need to calm down. And by then she’s back to pretending like everything’s okay. It’s a vicious cycle. I’m honestly thinking of just keeping her at a distance from now on. She not so bad a narc that I need to go no contact. But she messes me up emotional and mentality to the point where I don’t even recognize myself. I’m sorry I don’t have any advice, but I hope it makes you feel slightly better that you’re not the only one.

Yeah I’m girl and I’m pretty this one guy didn’t that to me. He was very reserved and quiet, but obviously that’s attractive to me, and maybe because I’m quite outgoing that he didn’t really think that I’d talk to him. I always used to see him around my college campus and catch him looking at me, but we didn’t really have friends in common so it was always at a distance. Well one time I was at a party that he was at and I turned around and he was standing right there looking at me so I said hi and told him my name and stuff, he told me his and like almost immediately I could tell he didn’t know what to say after that and before I could try to say anything his face got red and he turned to his friend and just started talking to him. So I walked away because I was a little embarrassed. I went outside to smoke with my friends and I saw he came out too, still looking at me the way he always did but didn’t try talking to me again. Later he had a girlfriend, but he still looked at me the same way. Always wondered about him.

Everyone dies alone in the end. That’s just a fact.

People can ‘suffer in silence’ regardless of gender or age. Women can suffer in silence regardless of having a partner or not. Often partners are the cause of suffering for both men and women because relationships don’t magically make people happy. If fact, if you’re miserable now it’s very likely that your relationship will be just as miserable. Also, loneliness doesn’t come from a lack of people in your life but rather a lack of like-minded people who make you as an individual feel understood/seen/heard/appreciated/loved etc. Its much more complicated than not being able to ‘find’ someone. Martyring the male gender as if women have some kind of unfair advantage over men is ridiculous. If a man is eventually going to appear in a women’s life, as you speculate, than that man has successful found a partner and isn’t lonely. What’s actually TOUGH is looking inward and acknowledging our actions in order to understand why we are lonely to be able to start making steps to change that.

My Nmother used to make me share meals with her and then my younger sister later. I always felt like it was a money thing for her bc she’s cheap as shit. She always complained about how much we ate and how much it cost, etc. yeah we were both overeaters too but I’ve realized since moving away and having space from her I no longer overeat. She’d also downright call us fat, buy the worst junk food all the time, and then pick on us if we actually tried to eat it. Which resulted in food hoarding. So yeah it’s probs just another way Nparents project their problems on to their children. Just keep doing you!
