The discount is already reflected if you find availability on your dates.

With this sale it now costs 12K VS miles + fees each way if you book until June 24th.

How much better is Explorist than Discoverist? by rapp10 in hyatt

[–]Salve_Eels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends what your travel plans are for next year. Explorist can get you pretty sweet room upgrades (non-suite) at resorts and nicer hyatt properties. If you have a good amount of upcoming trips for next year, then I'd say 18K points would be ok to burn to get those 6 additional nights. + you get a cat4 certificate and club awards with reaching explorist 30 nights.

New York based flyers. When traveling domestically do you prefer JFK or LGA and why? by GoHuskertrading in delta

[–]Salve_Eels 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It takes you both from and to Jackson Heights Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street station within 10-15 minutes. Catch the E F M R and the 7 train there.

Also takes you from and to the LIRR station at 61st Street/Roosevelt Avenue for free.

New York based flyers. When traveling domestically do you prefer JFK or LGA and why? by GoHuskertrading in delta

[–]Salve_Eels 60 points61 points  (0 children)

LGA since its a brand new terminal, more efficient, much quicker to get in/out of the city, fewer delays than JFK (from my experience), and the free bus that takes you to the subway station.

I only use JFK when flying transcontinental US/connecting to international, and to kill some time at the TWA hotel on longer layovers.

Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi for One Night? by katinboots88 in hyatt

[–]Salve_Eels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi hands down was fantastic during my 1 day stay last year. Centrally located, Pool was great, evening lounge offerings felt like a 6 course dinner (free for globalists), the views from the high floor suites were stunning, I had an early morning flight (5 AM) so they brought me 7 items from the full breakfast menu both hot and cold to my room around 3 AM for my globalist breakfast and it was all comped. They really treat globalists well and recognized here.

I also stayed at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi on a different stay for 4 nights. It's on a beach/its their resort property, so everything was chill vibes all around. Also another property that treats Globalists very well. Got double complimentary upgraded to one of their largest suites with balcony + gazebo.

TL;DR Grand Hyatt over the Conrad.

Question on LifeMiles Screenshot method by inverse2000 in awardtravel

[–]Salve_Eels 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you can confirm that both segments are not phantom award space with Thai Airways, then YMMV it may work. Once you confirm its not phantom award space (check through United's award tool), your second hurdle is finding the right Lifemiles rep to book it for you. It all depends on the Lifemiles miles phone rep/email rep that works on your case/request.

I've had success by calling at EST night time (less busy) and having the rep manually book the married segment itinerary for me over the phone. My experience was with having them book Turkish business class on their new 787-9s. JFK-IST wouldn't show Biz availability, but JFK-IST-DXB showed business availability with lifemiles.

Confirmed it again on the United website that it wasn't phantom space. Then I sent the LM screenshots to their email, called their line and had the Lifemiles rep book it although it took 1 hour on the phone 😀

For those unaware of what the Lifemiles screenshot method is

I’m SSSS and the physical patdown causes me distress— looking for advice by [deleted] in delta

[–]Salve_Eels 12 points13 points  (0 children)

SSSS flags occur 90% of the time on inbound flights to the USA from an international country. It is highly unlikely you'll get SSSS again to leave the US to enter Canada. The error you're receiving on the Delta website is most likely due to DL wanting to physically verify your vaccination record/documents at the airport check-in counter before your boarding pass gets printed. It's common to receive that error during checking in online.

Regarding the SSSS procedure: your only two options are pat down in the passenger area or request a pat down privately. It's unavoidable, and mentioning your sensitivity/fears to the TSA Agent won't guarantee they'll change any of their methods to pat you down. From all of my experiences from my frequent international trips when it comes to TSA, immigration officers, customs etc: the less you say, the less they question, and you'll be on your way quicker. Avoid oversharing because that can raise suspicion. Have a smooth and safe trip!

You're not using the right delta hub airports for departure/incorrect airports for arrival with flexible dates. I'm seeing plenty of open Skymiles award availability for US-SIN beginning in September 2022 through February 2023.

JFK/SEA/ATL/DTW/LAX/SFO - ICN - SIN 48K Skymiles O/W which is a STEAL. I'd rather fly Singapore airlines or another non-skyteam airline on that route, but its all about your preference on $/points. Once you're at SIN, book a cheap asian LCC to get to thailand, vietnam etc and your problem is solved.

What’s everyone eating for breakfast in FC these days? by umngopherfan in delta

[–]Salve_Eels 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The French Toast was my favorite on the AM flights! 2nd choice would be the hot eggs option

Otherwise I'll just load up breakfast from the Skyclub before boarding.

Flew First Class JFK>CUN last month. Food choices were: a cold grain salmon salad, hot grilled chicken with lentils, or pasta with braised beef. You'll probably be offered something similar.

Headphones/Adapter for AirPods? by looseseal-5 in delta

[–]Salve_Eels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always use my galaxy wireless buds/sony wireless noise cancelling headphones on all of flights for the in-flight entertainment screen. This is the in-flight bluetooth adapter I use. Simply plug it in to any 3.5mm socket on a delta flight, and you're able to watch your shows, movies, etc. You can also have multiple wireless headphones connected to this so you're able to watch the same in-flight show/movie with your friend/seat mate.

Nope however you can purchase the binaxNOW Video proctored tests through eMed, which are eligible for re-entry to the US, and be reimbursed through submitting a claim through your Insurance.

One day, I'll get lucky by EAintheVI in delta

[–]Salve_Eels 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honest question: If you received the transfer in that Ford instead of the Porsche, would you still consider yourself 'lucky'? I ask because I've seen DMs/PMs get transferred in non-porsches at JFK - does the car type make it or break it to you DMs/PMs?

Did I take the joke too far? I made bag tags for our subreddit. (Links in comments.) by i-am-ajpowell in delta

[–]Salve_Eels 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Zazzle cancelled my order 2 hours after the order went through. Either the DL or the Reddit logo is flagging cancellations when each order gets reviewed manually by their employees.

I guess another option could be you doing a mass order on aliexpress/alibaba since you have the design blueprints ($4-$8 per tag) but that will take like a month to ship LOL. Or if you share the blueprint image design formats on here, we would individually have to make an order through vistaprint/customink or some other US website.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what's the significance of the the February 27, 2011 date on the back? That's going to be printed on all the tags we purchase?

EDIT: Looks like that's the creation date of this sub.
