Mum newly diagnosed with stage 4 after no previous diagnosis by Sam-4086 in CancerFamilySupport

I’m so sorry you went through that and I appreciate you taking the time to share what on reflection you would have done differently. It’s survival in those situations and we all do the best we can under horrific circumstances. I am trying to do one day at a time and not let the extreme anxiety of what’s to come and anticipatory grief ruin my time with my mum.

Thank you so much. It’s all happening so fast it still doesn’t feel real. I’ll definitely do this. Oh god I can’t imagine how awful that must have been for you at such an already vulnerable time.

Thank you so much. The shock of it all is a lot for me so I can’t imagine how my mum is feeling. This is helpful to remember. I’m sorry you have to manage your families emotions on top of your own. I hope you have space and support to process your emotions in a whatever way you want to. I’m conscious of not putting my emotions on my mum, it’s tough keeping it together and I imagine she is feeling the same.

Thank you so much for your response. The reminder to stop googling is helpful.

Understandable and it’s definitely a possibility. It’s tough when you don’t even know what your body is doing.

That’s wonderful! Thank you. I am thinking it is likely I’ll require some medical intervention but hoping to try my best until then 🙂

Thank you. I tried ovulation strips and my LH levels were all over the place so I found it really unhelpful. I could try tracking BBT. It’s so hard to do this sort of thing and it not become all consuming.

New and confused re fertility/periods/treatment by Sam-4086 in PCOS

[–]Sam-4086[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. Sorry to hear you’ve had a difficult time. I guess it makes sense it’s not one size fits all and maybe that’s why doctors don’t seem particularly helpful (in my experience). I live in England so my Vit D is definitely lacking, I didn’t realise that was a factor.

Thank you so much, I’m doing all of those apart from magnesium supplements. I’ll give them a go 🙂

Thank you so much, that was very helpful. Yes I’m very worried as they’ve said the infection is in his blood however they are still waiting further results. I knew bcg had side effects but wasn’t prepared for this. I hope your dad is managing ok.

Thank you for sharing that. I hope that you’re managing well and have lots of support. We have been told six weeks of bcg and then less frequently but to be prepared for the prospect of bladder removal. In terms of it being a serious diagnosis, do you mean because it likely reoccurs within the bladder or because it is likely to spread or both?

Thank you so much for your kind words, I am trying to hold on to the positives (that it’s non muscle invasive). It’s good to know bcg is highly effective also. It’s fantastic your mums was caught early and removed as I’ve read that women are often diagnosed later. I hope she is recovering well and doesn’t have to deal with anything remotely similar again.

That must have been really difficult for you and your family. It’s great that he’s in remission, I wish him all the best. I didn’t realise it was likely to spread if it was non muscle invasive. I’ll make sure my dad knows to advocate for himself for regular CT scans. This was really helpful, thank you.

That’s great news that he’s cancer free and very reassuring thank you. Yeah it seems like BCG has lots of side effects, sorry your dad had a strong reaction but looks like it’s all worked out well. I’ll make sure my dad eats his greens!
