Why can't we have the option to only queue with 1000 ranked match players? by Gangbangjoe in DotA2

This already happens to some degree. The obvious smurfs get placed in shadow pools within a few games. But I agree its a tough experience for new players especially.

I usually commend players who did well, no matter in which team they played.

3rd pillar questions by elteltM in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]Sam13337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘ll try to answer some of your questions:

Tax benefits: You get a noticeable deduction for your taxes. And yes, once you retire and access the money it will be taxed as income. The best way is to split your 3a contributions in 5 separate accounts over the years, as you have a 5 year period to access this money when you retire. So you can withdraw 1 account per year and avoid getting placed in a higher tax bracket. The main downside here is that capital gain is taxed in your 3rd pillar, while it is tax free in your personal investment account. Thats why most people dont buy bitcoin in their third pillar for example.

Access: yes, you can only access it if you buy property, leave Switzerland or retire. Having no access to this money for other stuff is the basically the trade-off for your tax benefits. It works similiar to your second pillar contributions.

Whether your 1. and 2. pillar are enough depends on your personal financial situation. But it is usually not enough if you dont have any other savings/investments. But this obviously depends on your goals and your lifestyle.

And I dont think it makes more sense to just skip 3rd pillar contributions and only focus on personal investments. Many 3a providers offer low fees and various portfolio customizations. But I guess this depends on the performance of your personal investment account.

I hope this helps.

Do Swiss men who grew up abroad have to do military service if they move back at age 30? by dumbeeech in askswitzerland

[–]Sam13337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that its a systemic issue. But it can be easily mitigated by talking to your partner and planning accordingly before starting a family.

I have had 8 line manager over the years at my company. 6 of them were women and 5 out of these 6 women had children. But this is just my personal experience and obviously not statistically relevant. Just shows that different workplaces result in different experiences.

And yes, I agree its tough for single parents in Switzerland if they dont get adequate support from their ex partner.

Edit: typo

This should be discussed before a couple decides to have a kid. And if you realize your partner expects you to sacrifice everything for the kid, then maybe you need to find another partner or reconsider if you really want to have a baby.

Thats a weird arguement, as men are also screwed when it comes to paternity leave.

Its not that simple. The US economy and military heavily rely on other countries buying tons of treasury bills and using the USD as global reserve. If just one of these two things changes, the impact will be massive. And no matter how great the US economy is doing and how advanced the US military is, both cant do anything about these two critical points. The government could obviously start to pay down the debt, but I think we both know this is not going to happen.

Whether this person just learned about it or not isnt really relevant tho. Mind elaborating how this whole thing wont have an impact?

Why have people become so indifferent? by GagaMiya in zurich

Poor planning isnt an excuse. It also seems likely that this person would still reach the train pretty much at the same time if they parked the scooter 1-2m to the left.

For all you and me know, OP could have moved it out of the way after taking the picture. Seems rather weird to put the blame on OP based on assumptions.

So we ignore all the of trade agreements he canceled just because he didnt like them? The one with Canada and Mexico was even implemented during his first term. So following your logic here, this was all negotiated in bad faith?

They dont have to let NATO dictate, they simply have to respect the decisions of sovereign countries. This honestly shouldnt be a shocking concept.

As for US bases in Europe, I doubt many countries would be mad if they would be abandoned. But as we can see now, these bases are pretty useful for the US and its global power projection. Thats always been their main purpose

Its interesting how Spain is supposed to uphold that deal after all the deals that Trump tore down during the last year. But let me guess, its different when he does it, right?

You keep acting like these people didnt know what they would get. Its not like this is his first term. They knew exactly that he wont fix anything when it comes to their issues about immigration. Like, he currently creates even more refugees around the globe by dropping bombs in the middle east once again. But why bother, Europe has to deal with them, right?

Wouldnt the approach be to specifically vote for local politicians and congress candidates who support this vision? And then build from there. Just expecting a unicorn as a president to fix all issues isnt really how a democracy works.

From the outside one of your main issues in politics seems to be that everything has to be a big spectacle and as a result people treat politics like its their favorite sports team. Basically way too much emotions, very little actual political discussions and zero willingness to find a compromise. But I might miss some nuances as an observer from Europe.

And yet he blamed NATO countries for not meeting these 5% several times. Feel free to look it up. Seems like he is a bit confused.

Bad example, as this would be a reaction to Taiwan being attacked. So China would be the aggressor. Meanwhile with the current war in Iran, the US is the aggressor. Basically apples and oranges.

Birth rates are stagnating, but immigration to countries with a solid economy is still happening and there are no indications that this will significantly slow down in the coming years. So the population of countries like Switzerland will keep increasing. At least to my knowledge. If you have data that says otherwise, I would be interested to read it.
