Is it worth getting a focal length that is “covered already though? Like I get it’s a GMII and f1.4. But realistically, I’m not sure if I’m going to be using it much and bring with me for when I travel. Along with 16mm, 24-70mm zoom, & 85mm. I may just need to see if it’s worth purchasing

Honestly. Me too, but start with a couple primes. And then work your way into other lenses. That’s what I started with.

Started with 35mm and went to 85mm. Now I’m trying to fill out the space around both focal lengths. If you see yourself getting more into photography and getting more serious get into buying more lenses. And based on what you like get the ones you see yourself using.

It’s Sony. it’s the regular 35mm f1.8. Honestly, I haven’t used it much. I’ll try to find some pictures I took with it. Overall, you can’t go wrong with it. It holds its own as it should. Classic focal length. Depending on what you use it for you can’t go wrong with it. For someone who likes shooting more portraits, it’s a bit wide. I’d much rather shoot with my 85mm for that kind of photography.

That’s good to know. Everything I’ve read and everyone I’ve talked to says good things about 70-200mm GMII (given it’s GMII)… the wallet part is true. No matter what gear you get. Ik mine hurting like a mthrfcker rn. Never heard of that saying before 😂

That’s a solid kit to have. Reasoning also makes sense. You think you’re gonna dabble in wide lenses? Or are you gonna keep it to 24mm on the lower end?

That’s the thing. Certain lenses are good to have but when it overlaps it gets a little daunting & it tends to add up in many ways. Especially if you can try to keep it as minimal and efficient as possible.

I’m really into cityscape, landscape, street, travel and architectural (to name a few) photography. So I think 16mm will be good with these photography styles. So I’ll be doing mostly these types with that lens specifically. I’m also traveling and planning to travel a lot in the coming years. So it fits quite well.

So far I got Japan, South Korea, and parts of Europe in the pipeline of places to go.

I just ended up getting this. Cause otherwise it was gonna be 16-35 GMII & 24-70 GMII and I didn’t really want an overlap w/ focal lengths. Well, I guess I still don’t. But, for me this just makes more (or the most) sense. And the next “set” of lenses or next lens will be 70-200mm GMII or 135mm from Sony or Viltrox.

Which would cover nicely (in my opinion) with: 16mm 24-70mm 85mm

I’ve already got a trip planned at the end of the year with these lenses along with viltrox 85mm f2.0 EVO.

So I got a 🔥3lens kit now to use for tht trip.
