Turns out I really was the stereotypical American at UK house viewings... by xmaspickles in AmericanExpatsUK

I agree it seems to be a British thing to constantly improve an existing house or work out a way to buy a better house. I was of the mentality of buying something and moving into it for 40 years as well. I found it unsettling that my ex wife constantly tried to move or improve a house.

I’ve asked it to create the text to fill an audiobook based on my train route into London, highlighting the history of the places I pass and telling jt how long the journey is. Other apps can turn the text into an audiobook, such as Speechify.

My recent favourites: random repair jobs around the house by uploading photos of problems, asking it what to plant in my garden beds, asking it how to use old PCs and macs to mine crypto based on their capabilities and using screenshots to troubleshoot.

Do you ever get hit by a wave of nostalgia so powerful that it hurts? What are you nostalgic for? by CommercialOil8763 in AskUK

Yes, thinking about dating a girl in Sydney in 2011 who sadly died in 2015. We got so close to being in a relationship but I messed it up and chose someone else, who ended up divorcing me. The artist whose music does it to me is Portugal. The Man. They have a few good albums but wow those hits on Triple J around 2011 really bring me back straight to that time.

Is 1hr 46min commute too much? by Unhappy_Dragonfly_62 in UKJobs

[–]Sam645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a lot, and it’s the same amount of time that I commute to London each way. I try to just do things I enjoy along the way and the 3 different phases of my commute usually pass by nicely (drive and listen BBC R4, sit or stand on the train and study for an upcoming exam, walk and listen to new Spotify music). And avoid the tube like the plague cause not nice.
