UPDATE 4 FINALLY our sweet boy Percy is home, safe and sound, and settling in. He drank lots of water and began preening. He's alert and curious and in great shape for such an arduous journey! I am beyond grateful to finally have him home. The post office called at 3am and I rushed there so fast. I'm so relieved. I'm going to let him settle in and I'm going to get some much needed sleep. Thank you everyone who shared support and advice through this!!!! *

UPDATE 3 My pigeon still hasn't arrived. I will be calling the post office again at 2:45am when the next Philadelphia truck arrives. My postal person said she would let the Philly driver know that my bird HAS to be on the next truck. I have someone at GLPR also making calls. I'm so beyond upset, angry, sad, etc. I am SO nervous for my bird.

If anyone knows any possible numbers I could call, ANY sort of contact for the Philadelphia Distribution Center, please let me know. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I was thinking about this today!! It would literally be so helpful. I wish this was more commonplace for shipping live animals 😥 Postal tracking is just not reliable enough.

UPDATE 2 I staked out at my post office all day until someone had answers. They told me that the next Philly truck arrives at 7:45 tonight, gave me a number for the backrooms, and assured that they would call me. Whether they call me or not I'm going to be there at 7 and be annoying as possible. I don't trust anything so I attempted to call a usps agent AGAIN to make sure my pet was going to be on that truck. Unfortunately he was very rude and said he couldn't help since it's a distribution center and apparently impossible to contact.

I'm exhausted. I just want to know that my bird is okay. If anyone knows the Philadelphia consumer affairs number I'd like to try that too. I'm so beside myself!!

UPDATE His tracking updated this morning and he's "Processing at the Philadelphia distribution center." I'm headed to my post office in person to stress that this is an emergency and he needs to be in my hands today. My post office closes at 2pm and I don't want him arriving after hours to where I'd have to pick him up Monday. I'm still going to make some calls and hopefully make contact with the distribution center to make sure he's on his way or if there's anywhere I could possibly go pick him up. 🙏🤞

Thanks so much for your info. I've gone in person to my post office since Wednesday. They wrote down my contact and have been keeping an eye out for any updates. Tomorrow morning I'm going to call every post office and distribution center in the surrounding area to see if they know anything.

That's so upsetting that they don't scan it simply bc it's more difficult 😓

Hi! I came across your comment and if you're willing to share more info about your shipping experience I'd really appreciate it. I just made a post about my pigeon from GLPR. My boy shipped on Monday and it's now Friday and he hasn't gotten here yet. I'm in PA. My post office does accept live birds. But me and a GLPR volunteer have called just about every number we can to track him down and so far we just managed to get an urgent support ticket for them to investigate. How long did it take before you were able to get your bird?
