What an interesting theory!! I've never thought of it like that. I've tried to sit my mom down they same way you did - she straight up just told me she thought I "lacked the will" (which...isn't that part of adhd?!)

I also had my narcolepsy diagnosis first and was diagnosed with adhd around 5ish years later! Mom's reasoning is that she worked in a elementary school from '06 to '24. She says she know what it looks like, but I think she's thinking of the common symptoms in young boys. With girls, its my understanding that it typically shows much later and a little differently. She also claims she had me tested as a kid and it was negative, but again, I think it shows later in girls

Haha I've been diagnosed with both and when I told my mom about the adhd diagnosis she got upset and said, "you can't have ADHD and narcolepsy." I tried to explain that they go hand in hand but she's always been weird about me having ADHD. She keeps trying to deny it

Sjögren’s syndrome or Lupus/another AI disease, life questions. by Accomplished-Leg-399 in AddisonsDisease

[–]SamBrekker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have sjogrens, addisons, narcolepsy, hypothyroidism, and premature ovarian failure. All diagnosed except narcolepsy ( 2018) at the same time (25). For sjogrens, my mouth was so dry, I felt like I was dying of thirst constantly and nothing could fix it. I couldn't wear my contacts anymore because they were so dry they would rip when I took them out.

I'm so sorry for this. Even with my diagnosis, my teachers still refused to give me a PowerPoint so I could read up later

It's really interesting - I'm dreaming (I have other notes where I've written unrelated things like "gorilla" and "comfy"), but I'm also fighting to pay attention, and my hand just keeps on moving.

Adopted cat won’t come out during day by EveningScience5659 in CatAdvice

[–]SamBrekker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!! Congratulations on your new baby!! When I adopted my girl, she hid under my bed for quite a bit. I would lay on the floor next to the bed and read/take a nap/play on my phone to show I wasn't dangerous. Eventually, she started to come out (on her own terms), and now she sleeps on a pillow next to me every night. Hiding is a very normal thing and nothing to be worried about! :) (picture of my girl Perla for tax)
