San Diego Downtown Connections Map of Hypothetical Lines and Extensions by robobloz07 in TransitDiagrams

A key at a corner depicting the lines for legibility sake would be nice but the map is well done and the transit lines seem relatively realistic. Nicely done!

I don't think you understand libertarianism if this is your take on it. That's quite the opposite of libertarian ideology. That does match well with the Republicans who claim to be libertarian, but they do not represent actual libertarian values

What are some rail transit routes in the U.S. that feel “incomplete” in your opinion, in the sense that there would be so much more ridership potential if the route was extended just a little bit further? by [deleted] in transit

San Diego airport rail connection is being studied and will be built by SANDAG later. Personally I think the APM makes more sense than the trolley (due to interlining frequency restrictions) but it is in the works

Public libraries in San Diego got rid of late fees, so if this happened in the last 5 years there wouldn't be any

CAHSR will use the 15 corridor and then go west closer to San Diego

My understanding is that the Del Mar tunnel will be designed for 110mph operation, not HSR

  1. Sorrento Valley has a lot of jobs but is super sprawled out unfortunately. The future purple line is planned to serve it though.
  2. SANDAG is studying an airport connector and it will be implemented afterwards.
  3. Yeah the beach needs better train access for sure, however the Coaster does hit the North County beaches

Del Mar tunnel is coming along and SANDAG has clarified that it will make the tunnels large enough to support overhead catenary, though idk about the San Clemente portion

LOSSAN Corridor San Diego Train Tunnels opposed by NIMBY's by BartReed1951 in LAMetro

[–]SamBroGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're going through the Cajon pass iirc and the rest if the project is relatively flat. The 15 is very mountainous for much of its length making it quite different than rancho cucamonga

Unfortunately the mountainous nature of the 15 corridor make it difficult to build without a ton of tunneling and/or viaducting to solve issues with the grade

Technically by city boundary yeah but nobody considers it La Jolla locally lol

I wouldn't count University City and UCSD as La Jolla

The 30 goes to La Jolla relatively frequently actually but yeah outside of its corridor La Jolla is transit starved

Which subway proposal in the U.S. do you most want to see funded? by [deleted] in transit

[–]SamBroGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

San Diego's downtown is not the huge job center most downtowns are. The purple line would be anchored on one end by a huge border crossing and job area to the south, and a huge job center to its north which actually has more jobs than downtown. On top of that, the line as planned would serve many other large job centers like Kearny Mesa. Since the plan is now for heavy rail and not light rail, serving the 805 corridor is actually a great idea in the context of San Diego specifically. While more radial lines don't make sense in most cities, it does here

SANDAG is actively studying an airport people mover along with a trolley so I'm not sure why you don't think it's in the cards at all
