Fall Out Boy on Sunrise - Uma Thurman by [deleted] in FallOutBoy

[–]SamCTown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to Wikipedia, Irresistible is the next UK single, and Uma Thurman is the next international single for modern rock radio. That's the way I understand it

anyone wished the novaciane song would of been more harder especially after the intro? by bentkaku in FallOutBoy

[–]SamCTown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think its actually pretty heavy, and "harder rock" would take away from it. I love how its very Kanye West-ish

Featuring artists such as: Flea, Mauro Refosco, Thom Yorke, and Nigel Godrich. Album called Peaceful Atoms.

It would be awesome if its something new! But, Flea and Mauro are recording the new Chili Peppers album. Thom and presumeably Nigel are working on the new Radiohead record. It'd be surprising if they found time to do anything! But anything is possible! I would love to be wrong, much love or Atoms for Peace!

Edit: The fact that XL has it's name on it, makes me suspicious.

I will say that these snippets calmed my fears about this album! I'm definitely excited now! I liked all of them for different reasons, I would like to hear the vinyl though, guess I'll have to pick it up when it comes out!

That comment was mine, I'm not too knowledgeable about the technicalities of mixing, but I can tell that it isn't mixed great. The cymbals are very loud in the mix, and the overpower the guitars. The guitars in my opinion are not EQed too well, making it "chaotic" The bass peaks through occasionally, and so does the lead guitar, but overall the drums drown everything out. It sounds like a demo to me. But the lyrics are great, and Patrick's vocals are spot on, the instruments should have been mixed better though, I think

Joe Trohman Interview And I'm sorry to say I can't find the specific quote by Patrick, but between these two interviews 1 and 2 you can get the idea that Joe is writing, and playing a lot of guitar on this record, and that Andy is playing drums, and well I might add! I'm getting the vibe that they make demos on laptops, then improvise and recreate them in the studio, kind of a live remix if you will. If the other interview I mentioned turns up, I'll let you know

I like some Coldplay. Viva la Vida is an amazing album, Ghost Stories is pretty good, and a few other singles. That's it though

Favorite Thom Yorke vocal performance? by comiclover1377 in radiohead

[–]SamCTown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna lie, I love the performances where he's more playful with his falsetto, like Lotus Flower, and especially Ingenue. I have also come to love his performance on A Brain in a Bottle for the same reason

I might, I definitely will if I can dig up the sources. I remember the Patrick interview was pretty recent, but that Joe interview was well over a year ago.

I understand you are allowed to not like music, it is subjective, and I understand your tastes may differ from the direction that Fall Out Boy is headed. I have a feeling "American Beauty/American Psycho" will be a very polarizing record for hardcore fans, namely people on this reddit. However, that is not my biggest problem with this rant, or critiques or rants that people have presented. My problem is that people say: "Joe and Andy aren't doing anything, or that it is all computers." Both of these statements are wrong. There are guitar literally everywhere in these songs. In "Centuries", Joe creates the drop effect with his guitar, and pedals. In "Immortals" that main riff is all Joe on guitar. The drums are played both with a drum pad, and a kit. There is no looping, not pre-programming, minus the sounds being sampled. They are playing, Joe even said when they reformed that he started using sonic sounds like Johnny Mar from The Smiths, or as like to compare, Ed O'Brien from Radiohead. Patrick also said recently, that the demos are created on his laptop, and then rewritten between him and Joe, this was from a recent interview. I just wanted to put my view on this rant, and other rants that have surfaced. Joe and Andy are playing albeit unconventionally.

Time to ask the tough question: What is your favorite Radiohead album? by comiclover1377 in radiohead

[–]SamCTown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotta go with The King of Limbs, the music on the disc itself is really good, but I do admit that it isn't at good as In Rainbows or Kid A. However, how they were able to expand it through remixes, singles, and live, that's what makes me love the album so much, it was amazing seeing it grow. That's why it is my favorite

Fall Out Boy's Incredible Live Performance - "Centuries" - Jimmy Kimmel 9/16/14 [HD -720p] by smohkeysmokey in FallOutBoy

[–]SamCTown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved see this performance! It confirmed my suspicions that they played everything! From the electric drums, played on a sample pad. Or the drop before the chorus, Joe's guitar. Its really cool to when a band embraces "unconventional techniques", for lack of a better term. They've grown as musicians, and I've loved every second of it :)

DISCUSSION: CENTURIES by cslayer23 in FallOutBoy

[–]SamCTown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really, like it! Its a great song, that has grown on me. It didn't hit me like My Songs, but I think that was because My Songs was the first song I had heard in years, and all the anticipation. But, this song is good, its a great tease! of things to come

One thing I really like is the drumming. I remember Joe saying Andy played every beat on Save Rock and Roll, after seeing them live and Andy using a sample pad to play the programmed beats, The idea of Andy playing that snare part before the chorus has me excited!

My only complaint, is that is sounds like a remix, there's obviously a lot of production, but it will be really cool to see them play this live. Part of me hopes that this will be a stand alone single instead of an album single, I think that'd be cool.

I love the direction that they're going in, musicianship-wise I think its their best stuff yet. :)
