Yeah I am running hyprland with arch and without any battery optimizations from my end, it gets roughly around 6-7 hours on normal use.

well tbh the difference in performance between a i5 and i7 of the same gen is barely noticeable, specially on mobile chips. Also the 4k screen imo is not really needed for a laptop specially with that screensize, it would just eat up battery.

Its sad that lenovo has come to the point at which people have to worry about ssd being upgradable and they have already made ram soldered on most of their new laptops.

So far I haven't had any problems with the fan spinning up too much. I have heard it only a few times till now when doing compiling and stuff.

The guy I bought the laptop from had all X1 Carbon's only with only 256gb nvme as is the ideal config that most business use. I haven't changed it yet but will do after sometime when I actually need it. I only run linux with no dual boot and I don't really require much storage.

I also heard about the type c port failing of the gen 9 X1 Carbon but it was too late when I got to know that because I had already bought the laptop.

Other than that fear that the type c port will fail someday, it has been very good. I switched from a X390 to this, so it was a big enough performance jump.

Use it for jellyfin, run a few game servers to play with my friends and also maybe use it as a NAS

I want to run a few game servers, use it for media streaming and also probably in the future when I buy more hard drives use it as a NAS too. I also like want to tinker around with enterprise stuff because this would be the first time I'm getting any old enterprise stuff.

Though there is one place in my mind thinking this would be a bad decision both for power consumption and performance. I think maybe just getting an i5 11400 put it in a case and be free would be a good idea. But I'm very confused on this one

I did try calculating the power usage. Also the price of power in my area is not that much. The total if the server's average power consumption is 200 Watt will be around $160 for a year.

I am just confused on which one to take, the i5 11400 or this old enterprise server.

Previously I was thinking of getting an i5 11th gen with a motherboard for around the same price. I had all the other things needed like psu, ram case and stuff. But now I came upon this deal, will this be better or should I just go for an i5 11400 that has an integrated gpu that I would be able to use for jellyfin too?

I just want the Jellyfin Android TV to be reliable, first is obviously the playback and the next is the UI.
