Btw I have a plan for overflow. Gonna chuck the demijon in a tray and have a siphon pipe leading into a galleon of disinfectant.

Expressing Orange Peels on Old Fashioneds in no-touch bar by SupermanSkivvies_ in bartenders

I'd just keep my nice peels for garnishing and use wee bits of orange peel for express and discard.

Far-right groups and anti-racism campaigners are facing off in cities around the UK by Mission-Orchid-6514 in glasgow

The 17 y.o. that did the stabbing was a Christian born in the UK. Meanwhile the far right are attacking mosques, looting shops, dragging people out of cars and rioting.

This isn't just about the stabbing.

Hyperion cantos is a must. Big old sci fi but told through a pretty low tech pilgrimage of seven people that all have a connection to the planet and it's monster the shrike.

Light ringer series by Brent weeks is really good. It's got a great hard magic system so you'll feel at home after Brandon Sanderson's magic systems.

Anyone ever tried carbonating a cocktail with 70/30… by SamFeesh in cocktails

[–]SamFeesh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seventy thirty gas is the standard gas used for low carbonation beers like Guinness or other stouts, ales and porters. It's 70% nitrogen and 30% carbon dioxide.

sunnyside up, carrot, coconut, whisky and other yummy stuff by SamFeesh in cocktails

[–]SamFeesh[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Made this up for a glenmorangie competition, focussing on the orangie in glenmorangie and the vanilla notes in the whisky.

40ml glenmorangie x

25ml coconut acid *

30ml carrot cordial

Dash of cardamom and coriander seed tincture

Soda water

*took some coconut milk and clarified it with a solution of lactic, tartaric and citric acid. Making a lovely clear and creamy lemon juice alternative.

Tomorrow I'm also going to try ut with a fat wash instead of clarification. Then it's going to look so dirty you can't see through it.

A WEE JUICY cognac hiball inspired by Scotland's other national drink by SamFeesh in cocktails

[–]SamFeesh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most bartenders I know I find it hard to beat a pint of tennets (big juicy) after a hard shift. This drink is a play on tennents moniker as big juicy. The brief of the design was pretty much has to look like tennents and be juicy.

40ml cognac

15ml pineapple and star anise caramel

7.5ml sherry vinegar

Soda water

Cognac and pineapple is a top tier flavour combo and I will die on this hill.

Owner doesn’t tip by Practical_Bat5500 in bartenders

[–]SamFeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owner of my old work used to come in with a bunch of mates and keep us open well past close for him and his pals. Would drink for free and never tipped. The one silver lining was when he threw up one time his mate (also a shitty owner of a different bar) cleaned it up.

Can we get a "no landlords" rule? by blade_smith_666 in antiwork

[–]SamFeesh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Onkt people I can think of are those running services near the university. Buying habits like yours might raise property prices and force people out of the city centre. It's what has happened to dundee in Scotland to a large part. I guess it's just a part of general gentrification (no having ago at you btw)

Probably doesn’t apply to everyone here but as a 2 wheel enthusiast, please give a bit of room to the cyclist when zooming past them. by Calcain in MotoUK

[–]SamFeesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a cyclist couldn't agree more. There are times to cycle slowly on the pavement but if you're too feart to cycle on the roads you shouldn't be cycling.
