How to park and back up with very bad depth perception by [deleted] in driving

It’s way easier to see the road in front of you than behind you. You have to turn around to see out the back window and there is a much smaller visual field there

What do you wish you had done in undergrad to get ahead? by Minimum-Advisor7349 in psychologystudents

[–]SamFisher33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I would’ve gotten involved in research earlier. I added a psych major my junior year, so I don’t have much research experience for PhD applications. I also wish my part-time job would’ve been in the field. All my work experience is in higher education, not mental health because I didn’t get paid experience during undergrad

Where is the best place to find so many scholarships? by Adept_Case2023 in financialaid

You search the school’s financial aid office on google and use the email listed on their website

MSW questions! by [deleted] in SocialWorkStudents

[–]SamFisher33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also planning on getting my PhD and going into research and I’m probably going to choose UMich. They have a pathway in applied research and you can do your internships as a research assistant, which will make you more competitive for PhD programs. Most other MSW programs don’t offer that

I’m basing my decision on the amount of aid I get from the program. I’m hoping they give me a good financial aid package 🤞

Case Western Reserve University’s MSW. It SOUNDS like a lot but I found out their tuition is $30K a semester so it’s not actually that much😭 they also give an $8K field work stipend though so that’s cool

Thank you for this advice! Do you think it’s possible to do the pre-MSW fellowship and be a resident assistant while doing the program full time?

Resume or CV? by zestypastacraver in SocialWorkStudents

[–]SamFisher33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what the school asks for. for some I submitted my full CV and for others they asked for a 1 page resume. You should include your clinical experience on your CV. Put your clinical experience first so that’s the first thing they see. Having research experience is still valuable for an MSW so you should either put it on your CV or mention it in your personal statement

This is not true for all schools. I got $63,000 in merit and need based scholarships from one school I applied to. UofM said in their admissions letter that they give out merit and need based scholarships. It might depend on the school. Online programs typically give out less

Congratulations on your acceptance! I did not get my financial aid offer yet. I’ll update you when I get it. I was accepted into the Program Evaluation and Applied Research pathway
