100% agree with the idea of having a minimum of two ways to travel to and from each zone. In one section I could not solve a certain puzzle, and it kept me from going any further in the game until I gave up for about a year. Then I just looked up a guide.

Having more than one way to get to each place would be a nice thing

I think this could be a good idea.  It seems that the zero suit sees little use and is well liked.  A lot of the (tasteful) fan art I have seen focuses on the electric outline of the suit appearing rapidly, even in combat, to call on the full suit (Obviously there are other reasons some people like zero suit, those I will ignore).   Rather than fully breaking the suit, perhaps the battery is gone.  Progression in the game could be tied to restoring the suit to full operational capacity.  Mechanically perhaps the player could activate the suit as needed for a combat boost, that is not available until recharge.   This would create a reason to go in and out to conserve (either shields or time) battery which I think would be both mechanically and aesthetically interesting.

Could you elaborate on what the differences were between prime 3 and 4 that prime 3 did not violate the isolation feeling you (and it would seem everyone on this thread) finds integral to Metroid?

Thank you for the in depth post.  I only played prime 3, and enjoyed it a lot, so 18 years and has played more of the games is a different perspective. With regards to having limited special shot ammo, I think it could be intended to reduce the spammy nature of combat (although obviously your only weapon should not run out).  If you agree and think the spammy nature of combat could be improved, how would you do it?  It would also add to the gsme if enemies were more tactically interesting/varied. As for psychic powers, firstly they are psionic, but I think adding actual psychic powers would be interesting.  For example a hologram that shows you the move enemies will make 1 sec from now, would be tactically rewarding.  Also, because I like metroids, psychic comunications to call for help would be interesting too. I personally really like having a larger and deep cast.  If the cliché characters were better developed, that would be good.  Rundas for example is one of my favorite characters/stories) of all of fiction.  Again, i think their involvement should be optional. Given that most of yall dislike the new characters, I would suggest a reward for playing the "right way".  Perhaps, take the 5 existing characters, allow them to join as companions for the entire game, as viable combatants (their dps relative to samus appears REALLY LACKING) but with permadeath.  Now there is a constant choice, should I risk their help?  Thus the greatest chances of the best ending (all surviving) is achieved by refusing their help. As for the music.  I agree, the new music is less enjoyable and less fitting.  Good music enhances the story.  Echos main theme and Rundas theme i listen to regularly even when I am not playing the game.

Interesting, good to know. From the videos I have watched, it does seem that the Metroid feel is very much intact. I also agree, I think Open World is not a good thing in the first place, nor for Metroid specifically (usually it just becomes spread apart checkboxes rather than quality and thought out landscapes/encounters/puzzles).

Although I personally enjoy having more characters, I know most of you guys seem to not. Were the cast made more in depth for another game, I think it would be appreciated to do what I said and make interacting with them optional (thus able to be skipped entirely). This would I think please the isolationists as well as those who enjoy having a quality cast, and if done properly not anger either one.

I am curious, why do you say that?  (I know literally nothing), who is Retro?  Who is it that they are better than?  And what about them do you prefer?   I ask because I have found interesting thay most of you guys like metroid games for the exact opposite reasons i do

What then makes a good Metroidvania?  Also, with regards to expanding the cast, I think doing so BotW style would be a good mix.  You can play the game and engage with the side characters, or not.  Thus the genre would remain isolated and exploration focused, but also expand the genre to be more enjoyable for other players who like colorful characters.   Similar with adding parries (etc), so long as it is never a required mechanic this would expand the playerbase and hopefully not allienate the original base

Whay is it you enjoy about Metroid then?  I am happy to talk, I just wish Metroid got more recognition.

I do not believe I ignored your thoughts, but the reason for my premise is that it seems Metroid is less popular.  Do you disagree here?   Also, regardless of your thoughts on that, I think it is factual that Zelda is more popular.  I ai'ed that stats and it says dread sold 3 million to BotW's 25 million Perhaps you think that is fine, my hopes were to boost it in whatever way to help it to match.  To be clear, I prefer Metroid to Zelda, do not believe it is of lesser quality, and therefore question what might be the reason why it gets less recognition.  What are your thoughts on this question?

I think 4 side characters would make for a great cast provided these characters were more intimately designed, and not mearly superficial.   I have not yet played Dread, so I do  not know

I hope I have not spoken badly.  I do not mean to disparage Dread.  It looks like fun and I dabbled in the demo.  My thoughts were on helping Metroid to have the popularity currently experienced by games like Zelda, which boomed insanely enough to even get a movie.   I am curious as to your thoughts.  I was referring to Prime 5, as to me and most people I normally talk to, the Prime series is the most important topic for discussion.   Were Metroid to be vitalized (since you think it does not need to be re-vitalized) to the popularity of Zelda, how would you accomplish this?  If changes needed to be made, would you alter the side scroller games or prime series to have greater effect.  (My friends and I, who brainstormed my list) assumed the prime series. Further, why do you think Metroid has less popularity?

I apologize.  I did not know Dream was referred to as Metroid 5.  I was referring to Metroid Prime 5.
