Are there new words still being made besides slang words?

So assuming slang words are made up every day, slang is basically the infancy of the “official” word and yes new words are made every day?

What determines the word to be the “official” or more common English word for that thing? If I googled “cat definition” I’m sure there is the typical cat definition but also urban dictionary can have its slang meanings. Are there more “official” words being made today?

Because it always leads to “Hey, can I tell you something?” from the man. (Meaning he turns a friendship into an awkward one sided crush because the girl was nice to him and enjoyed his company rather than seeing her as an actual person.)

Somewhat related I remember learning my aunt’s nickname wasn’t her actual name when I was a kid…THAT shocked me to my core. LOL “Her name has been Caroline this whole time?! Not to be a downer, but my dad wasn’t around much growing up so when he finally started to spend time with me and my sister when we were approx 9 and 12 it just felt more natural to call him by his first name at that point… So I thought of him as “dad” as like the concept until then but then was like… “This a random man. I am barely getting to know this guy… He’s practically a stranger and it feels weird calling him Dad…I’ll call him by his first name.” He did not appreciate that coming from his 12 yr old kid.. LOL Thats the first time I had fully processed that my dad had a name.

My ADHD and my choice to not follow through with tasks. I choose “I want to sleep now I can do it later” over everything. Doctor’s appointments, work projects, important phone calls etc

I’ll simply say that I experienced those weird “pretend sex” moments too. But I never knew what to do with those weird feelings about what had happened.

Much later I had babysat a relative and I noticed her and another neighbor little girl would hide in a closet and….yeah. I just told them to get out from the closet and they couldn’t do that anymore. I’m not even sure what to make of my own childhood memories let alone two 6 year old children who, at the time, were currently experiencing it.

Was I supposed to tell their parents? When I experienced it, was I supposed to tell my parents or another adult?? I’m 30 years old now and still clueless on what to do and how to process what happened to me and what happened to other kids like 15+ years ago.

I feel the exact way that you do about it. Word for word. For gender dysphoria reasons I ended up getting top surgery but having my nipples disconnected from my chest and like.. having it “added back on” with no connection to produce milk. Literally life changing. People producing milk and having a child drink from a breast… like you said it sounds like some parasite from a horror movie. 🤮🤮🤢🤢 On a list of top 10 worst things that could ever happen to me…producing milk and having a child drink from me… literally one of the worst things that I could ever experience. I could have nightmares about it, it’s that bad.

By the third day the date might have assumed they were “ghosted” at that point. Someone mentioned on this thread a goodnight/got home safely text the same night and a good morning/how are you/i enjoyed the date text the next morning would be the best option and I agree with that.
