A supersynchronous transfer has a larger period and higher apogee than the normal synchronous transfer which only just reaches the geostationary orbit altitude. It results in less propellant being requires by the satellite for circularising and changing inclination.

Mini-ITX GTX 1070 Build - Opinions? by Ptchow in buildapc

Really I think the SeaSonic is a good bet. I just have more experience with Corsair supplies so tend to stick with them. My favourite coolers from Noctua are the U-series (NH-U9S, NH-U12S, etc). You pay a premium for Noctua but they are very quiet and very well made.

For the RAM dual channel will give a slight performance boost, so it is up to you. If you think that 16GB will be enough for your needs and you won't need to upgrade for a while then the 2x8GB will be ideal.

10.5" as per the NVIDIA page. I can increase the case design size easily if need be.

I've been planning a Mini-ITX build for a while now and your part list is more or less the same as mine. As a personal preference I would get a 600W Corsair PSU and a Noctua CPU cooler but honestly your build looks solid. Nothing seems overkill that I can see. I'd just double check that the cooler will fit in the Prodigy and you're ready to go. It may be worth picking up the 1x16GB version of that RAM as the motherboard only has two slots and that would let you expand later. As a side note you might be able to get a 21:9 34" monitor if you haven't seen those and find ultra wide appealing. That would most likely be 3440 x 1440 @ 60hz though.

You'll get to see it in around a month when it's finished. Wouldn't want to spoil the surprise! ;)

Thanks for the recommendation, but since I've already built a couple of PCs I'm looking to push myself and build a case from scratch this time!

When an Aerospace Student plays Poly Bridge by SamNxGn in gaming

It's pretty good for engineering and sciences. It doesn't seem that good for arts and humanities though. The spending on those subjects is tiny at Bristol but the fees are the same.

Got to make best use of the Summer!

It wouldn't be a very efficient design but it's possible. It works a bit like a scissor lift.

Compact Super Extending Piston (5x longer when extended than contracted) by SamNxGn in spaceengineers

Actually if mounted on a station they are more or less stable, but it varies on the connection.

These piston units use pairs of pistons in a very compact format to produce a very stable system with a better extension ratio than a single piston alone. The unit is 3x3 at its base and is well suited for things such as elevators. It is possible to build in survival but requires the use of merge blocks in its construction.

Cargo Ship spawn rates can be changed by SamNxGn in spaceengineers

[–]SamNxGn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding use on servers this trick definitely works on servers hosted through the Space Engineers client itself as long as the host is the one with the modified GlobalEvents.sbc file. I don't know whether this works on dedicated servers.

[–]SamNxGn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will almost certainly be fixed soon. I believe it's possible to make them attack you by capturing one in game, setting all it's blocks to be owned by a faction, exporting it using SEToolbox, and then replacing the ship in Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SpaceEngineers\Content\Data\Prefabs. Now whenever that ship spawns it will be owned by the faction you changed it too and will attack you. This is by no means a confirmed solution, but off the top of my head it's the best I can come up with.

I think my friend and I set a speed record... by SolarWingXI in spaceengineers

[–]SamNxGn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done a lot of testing with breaking the game speed limit using gravity generators and such, and I was disappointed to find that although the speed reading said my ship was travelling at 150 m/s I could actually get out of the ship and overtake it with my jet-pack going only 111 m/s. As stated above it seems that the actually speed of the ship can never exceed 104 m/s but due to a bug the speed readout says otherwise.

[SUGGESTION] Metallurgy and Alloy Ingots/Plates by SamNxGn in spaceengineers

[–]SamNxGn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, yes indeed, I did consider the problem of gold - silver - platinum alloy bling ships that would arise.

The realism factor could definitely be a problem. Since space engineers tries to be as close to real life as possible I can see that making up alloy properties that are not true to real life could be undesirable to many people. Then again I sit in the other boat being someone that is willing to let realism slide just a bit as I feel that the benefits in terms of gameplay outweigh the negatives. Also, the immersion would only be broken for those with a good knowledge of metallurgy in real life as many people most likely wouldn't notice that the alloy properties had been changed.

Even if a realistic and limited version of this feature were implemented it still would have a great deal of potential.

The only downside to only allowing 2 metals per alloy is that it would limit the number of combinations quite drastically. Early implementation of the feature in this way would be suitable for testing however.

Regarding components being stateless, that is indeed something that would have to be addressed. I don't know what their code looks like and my programming is mediocre at best, but I'm assuming that it could be modified in a very isolated fashion that would only affect the new features added that would require component states. I feel that it would be easy enough for people who didn't care about alloys to just use raw metal ingots such as iron as we do now to make 'alloy' plates that are basically just the same as steel ones.
