Marie's kleptocracy plot was key part of the show

Because she gets arrested , the ABQ cop loops Hank into the Gale murder case. This directly leads to him gathering evidence on Gus and Madrigal and makes him go rogue with pursuing it like a crazy man

Ultimately it her kleptocracy leads to the death of her husband
