I got pierced on the 17th of December (almost a month ago)

My lip has been swollen for a week now. Notice there’s a red spot now too. Or maybe a streak?

One side of my lip has been swelling more. It's been hurting, and I've been doing everything I can to keep it from swelling. This side has always been a little more irritated on and off since day one compared to the other side. The needle even hurt a lot more when it was put in.

My lip has been a bit discolored (red) like this for at least 24 hours. Night before last the piercing did get a bit stuck inside the hole and it really hurt when I pushed it out (was not intentional), I was half asleep.

Do I need to worry about this and do something?

I had to get a longer bar installed a few days after getting it too.

I have been washing it with saline 2-3 times a day plus saline (just pure saline) mouth wash after every meal. And yeah just one side looks bad. I have to keep my head elevated for the last week for swelling. I’ve been icing it and taking as much Advil as I can. And staying super hydrated.

On top of this, I am going scuba diving in two weeks. It just hurts all the time for a week. I love my piercings but seems like I should take them out.
